Arcane Ascension 0.4.1 — Spell Controls & Protected Mentors (Forge 1.20.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
ZENIX Arcane Ascension 0.4.1
For Minecraft Java 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.10 and Java 17. Install the same mod version on both client and server.
- Added six saved active spell slots. Press K or sneak-use the Mage Grimoire, choose a key slot and learned spell, then Activate. Default casts are Z / X / C / V / B / N, all rebindable in Minecraft Controls. The book pages through your unlimited learned collection, shows requirements and costs, and opens spell learning directly.
- Key casts use the normal server spell engine: earned domain/rank requirements, targets, ingredients, mana, shared casting gap, form cooldowns and ultimate recovery still apply. Assigning one spell to multiple keys shares its cooldown. A slot cast preserves the equipped grimoire spell.
- Fixed silent Mage Grimoire use. An empty book opens the loadout and explains how to learn magic. Normal right-click casts the equipped learned spell; missing requirements and failed targets now produce visible actionbar feedback.
- Added a Magic-only spell strip showing assigned names, actual rebound keys, mana and remaining recovery. Added floating health bars for nearby visible guardians, familiars and Minecraft hostile mobs; guardians show rank and armor.
- Revised spell rendering with translucent domain energy surfaces, moving inscriptions, fine additive filaments, beam cores, curved wave highlights, spirals and impact flares. The 182 named forms retain their distinct authored compositions and mechanics across 13 domains, with 39 ultimate forms and 13 original cast sounds.
- Replaced bulky reagent models with 39 distinct, sharply shaped transparent item silhouettes and native item-edge thickness. Rebuilt tomes, the grimoire, guide and test book as thin bound books with covers, spines, page edges and small domain emblems. The 407 registered items include 324 volumetric nonblock models plus the 39 reagent silhouettes; the resource set contains 869 PNG textures.
- Expanded mentor surveys to 192 queued candidate sites, scanned below canopies for actual ground, recognized natural vegetation across all three realms, and explicitly rejected End void. Player-built, inhabited and protected terrain remains excluded. The held wayfinder shows a direction arrow, bearing, distance, mentor name and required realm; failed searches explain how to retry safely.
- Added Test Book → World → Teleport to Mentor for creative players and operators. It visits the real rank/domain mentor building on the normal Overworld, Nether or End map. During testing it first restores your original character and inventory, then visits that character's real mentor. Other fixture actions still require a private session, and End & Restore returns the backed-up character.
- Protected mentor sanctuaries and the arena realm against breaking, placement, explosions, fire, destructive tools, fluids and piston movement. Bounded checks restore damaged blocks in loaded structures while keeping doors and workstation interactions usable.
- Updated guide entries, item descriptions and keybinding labels. Added regressions for slot assignment/casts, visible grimoire guidance, bounded snapshots, mentor search/travel, structure protection and small/large loadout UI layouts.
Existing mage progress and learned spells remain compatible. Active loadouts use their own saved spell IDs. New ores still require newly generated terrain in existing worlds. The mod remains independently playable with Minecraft and Forge.
This is a beta update; extended survival balance remains part of playtesting. Build, installation and publication results are recorded separately from these release notes.
