v0.2 is finally here. An update that's been three and a half months in the making!
v0.2 Recipes | Cooking Guide | Roadmap Poll | Experimental Poll
Changelog:
*Minor tweaks before the big stuff: improved fire/ice arrow behavior, shock arrows now both shock the player and induce shocks on metal blocks and the costs for villager-sold special arrows is now double the cost of what they used to be. You can also now craft elemental arrows if the experimental-config toggle is enabled or also find them in desert pyramid/igloo/jungle pyramid chests.
*The player now has a stamina stat like in Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. You can climb blocks when facing a solid wall while holding R, which consumes stamina as you climb with a 1:10 chance to consume stamina twice as much during rain. Stamina automatically restores itself gradually as long as you're on the ground and not in mid-air/falling.
*There is now a temperature system, lifted mostly right out of Breath of the Wild. Certain biomes now cause recurring damage if you do not have any protection against the elements. Taigas are now tier-one cold biomes, savannas are now tier-one hot biomes, frozen rivers/snowy taigas/etc are now tier-two cold biomes and deserts/badlands/the nether are now tier-two hot biomes. There are multiple ways to approach the elements now, from campfires/cryostones, cooking food, brewing potions, staying indoors/underground or crafting the new Snowquill/Desert Voe sets.
*New resources fill the world. Ore deposits, spicy peppers, hydromelons and stamella shrooms. You can easily find spicy peppers in plains, hydromelons occasionally generate in jungles and stamellas spawn commonly in forests, especially dark forests. Ore deposits now generate both underground and in mountain biomes and will drop various kinds of gems when mined.
*Ancient Wreckage now dot the land. You can mine these for ancient parts to craft an Ancient Oven, which can be used to craft Ancient Arrows!
*New accessories and armor! Amber Earrings give you a defense boost, Opal Earrings give you a swim speed boost, Topaz Earrings give you a 25% resistance to lightning and shock arrows and lastly, Ruby and Sapphire Circlets respectively give you full temperature immunity in taigas and savannas but only five minutes for their own tier-two biomes. Lastly, there are the Desert Voe and Snowquill sets, which provide full immunity for respectively all hot/cold biomes.
*A large collection of new meals you can cook as a tease of a future update. Crepes, Fruitcake, Glazed Mushrooms, Honey Candy, Honeyed Apples, Honeyed Fruit, Meat Skewers, Mushroom Skewers, Pepper Steak and Sauteed Peppers. You can also roast spicy peppers, hydromelons or stamellas in a furnace, smoker or on a campfire.
*The new meal foods have mechanics that are hybridized between Minecraft and Breath of the Wild. They have a short use-duration, can't stack and they restore less hunger (with togglable healing cooldowns) than vanilla food usually but also automatically restore health and/or apply buffs. The food system in the mod is currently very experimental in nature, so hunger and healing effects will be adjusted in the future.
*New bows! Traveler's bows, soldier's bows, silver bows and golden bows. Traveler's and Soldier's may be found in pillager outposts or plains villages while silver bows may be found in igloos/taiga villages and golden bows may be found in desert pyramids and desert villages.
*New arrows are Ancient Arrows, Light Arrows and like the new food, these new bows are a tease for an expansion on weapons in Minecraft for the mod to suit a dynamically scaling enemy system in the future. Light Arrows do x2 damage to undead mobs while Ancient Arrows one-shot any non boss mob and also erase the target's mob drops like they do in Breath of the Wild.
*Masons now have a chance to sell earrings and circlets while leatherworkers may sell pieces of the snowquill/desert voe set.
*A config, with a GUI! Many of the new mechanics or features from the update can be adjusted or even turned off in the config GUI.
*An experimental gameplay config toggle. Enabling this will toggle experimental or in-the-works unstable gameplay and mechanics. These include crafting elemental arrows and upgrading topaz earrings/circlets at an Ancient Oven and Silver Bows/Golden Bows respectively giving Ice Arrows and Fire Arrows a further x2 damage multiplier for a total of x4 damage.
Clarity:
*To use the Ancient Oven to make ancient arrows, hold an arrow in your mainhand and right-click it as long as you have 2 or more experience levels and screws/shaft requirement, you'll get a prompt telling you how to craft them (pretty simple, just hold enter and click again)
**If experimental config is enabled, put eight gems of the same type (ruby/sapphire/topaz) in a 3x3 crafting grid to make raw essence then right-click an ancient oven while holding the essence, you can then use the purified essence surrounded by eight arrows to craft elemental arrows; you may also use one purified respective essence to upgrade topaz earrings or circlets while holding them when right-clicking an ancient oven
*Changing the meal-item stack size will only take effect if you exit and close Minecraft after changing the config
Thanks:
*Superworldsun for input and improvements on fire arrow and ice arrow behavior
*Serilum for his open source healing soup code for this mod's healing foods
