What's new

What's new in 0.14.1

Changes since the previous CurseForge release, 0.12.1:

  • Call your companion with a whistle. Right-click to ask your wolf to return and sit in front of you once it is safe. Each player receives one starter whistle; replacements can be carved from one bone and one knife in the 2×2 crafting grid. The knife takes durability damage rather than being consumed. The whistle has a longer, clearer call.
  • Easier interaction. A calm, well-fed companion can pause when you look directly at it nearby, making sitting and other interactions easier.
  • Organized settings. Optional Cloth Config support adds five tabs with clearer controls and tooltips. The standard settings screen remains available without Cloth Config.
  • Less demanding needs. Hunger and thirst now drain at half their previous speed by default. Your wolf still hunts or seeks water below 35%, but only asks for help below 15%, with further warnings if its condition substantially worsens. Depletion speed and the help threshold are configurable.
  • Emergency self-care while sitting. A critically hungry or thirsty companion can make a short, safe food or water trip, then return to its original sitting spot. Carried food comes first; danger and injury guarding still take priority. A setting restores strict sitting.
  • More practical drinking. Safe banks at water level are now accepted. Critical thirst bypasses ordinary trip cooldowns, can interrupt a hunt, and retries water searches every five seconds.
  • Clearer companion status. The status screen now puts your companion's name, current activity, and low needs or health at the top.
  • More readable activity history. New events use TFC calendar dates and times. Events display newest first, and the screen returns to the latest page when new activity arrives. (Older entries remain in the log, however their old timestamps are labeled as unavailable--there was no way to convert them to the TFC calendar, unfortunately.)

Existing saves are supported; no new world is required. Remove the previous Wolf Companion JAR before installing this version. Update both server and clients for multiplayer. Cloth Config is optional and only needed on the client for its enhanced settings screen.
