The Art of Spell Crafting

Description

The Wizards of Lua modification adds the Lua programming language to the Minecraft game.

Casting Spells

By using this mod operators can cast magic spells from the chat / command line.

A spell is built from a sequence of magic words, which define what this spell is going to do (in fact, a spell is a little computer program, which therefore makes the wizard some weird kind of software developer).

For more information, please visit www.wizards-of-Lua.net or join our community of wizards at our Discord channel.

Make sure to read the introduction, since you won't be able to cast any spells without knowing at least a small amount of magic words!

Server-Side Modding

In order to use the Wizards of Lua mod you only need to install it on your Minecraft server. All spells are executed on the server only. However, their effects are transmitted to the client computers. This makes it really easy to change the rules on your own Minecraft server without the need to distribute client-side mods. You even can create your own mini games this way.

Instant Minecraft Modding

This mod provides the /lua command and a Lua API that can be used from the in-game chat line as well as from command blocks. To write your spells you can use a built-in Lua editor while you are logged in. You don't need to use an extra program to compile your spells. Your spells are available immediately. This mod is made for programmers who would like to create some Minecraft modifications interactively . It's also made for players who like to learn programming in a playful way.

Add-Ons and Spell Packs

A spell pack is a special kind add-on for the Wizards of Lua mod. It just contains Lua files bundled into a Jar file. You can add ready-to-use spell packs into your server by dropping them into the server's mods folder. Check out the list of products that are dependent on WoL and search for spell packs.

Self-Made Spell Packs

You can distribute your self-made spells by bundling them into a spell pack. See the Claiming Heads spell pack and The Wand of Featherlight Flight for some examples.

Modpack Permission

I give you the permission to include the "Wizards of Lua" mod into your modpack as long as you respect the following rules:

- In the modpack description you have to add a link to the mod's homepage.

- You are not allowed to make money with your modpack using adds or url shorteners (like addf.ly). However, donations (e.g. via PayPal) are allowed.
