Description

Wanderer's Codex

Wanderer's Codex adds a richly detailed in-game journal that tracks your journey, celebrates your achievements, and gives your playthrough a sense of history and progression. Press G to open the Codex at any time, or craft/find the Codex item and right-click it.

Built with the assistance of Claude by Anthropic — an AI assistant used to help design, write, and debug the mod from the ground up.

✦ Features

📊 Stats

A beautiful dashboard showing everything vanilla hides in boring menus — total distance traveled, jumps, mobs killed, deaths, damage dealt and taken, K/D ratio, fish caught, chests opened, play time, and more. All tracked independently without needing to open the vanilla statistics screen.

🗺️ Exploration Journal

Every time you set foot in a new biome for the first time, the Codex logs it — with coordinates, the in-game day, and a hand-written flavor text entry unique to that biome. Over 13 biome types covered with multiple flavor lines each, so no two journals read the same.

⚔️ Combat

Three sub-views covering your combat history. The Overview shows your kill count, death toll, K/D ratio, and last death location. The Kill Log ranks every mob type you've killed with a visual progress bar. The Combat Log keeps a running record of recent kills and hits taken.

📅 Calendar

Track the in-game date, current moon phase, and season all in one place. A Life Events feed automatically logs significant moments — deaths, titles earned, and milestones reached. Add a personal note for each in-game day to keep a true diary of your playthrough.

🏆 Titles & Epithets

Earn over 20 unique titles by reaching milestones across every playstyle — exploration, combat, fishing, survival, and more. Titles like "The Wanderer", "Dragon Slayer", "Master of the Deep", and "The Undying" are waiting to be unlocked. Equip any title you've earned to make it your own.

🌿 Seasons

A full four-season cycle tied to the in-game day count — Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, each lasting 28 Minecraft days. The Seasons tab shows your current season with art, a day progress bar, year count, and a teaser for the season ahead.

📝 Notes

A freeform notes system for tracking anything you want to remember — base coordinates, project goals, to-do lists, lore you've written, or reminders for your next session. Create, edit, and delete notes at any time with full keyboard support.

🔔 Milestone Fanfare

Every time you unlock a new title, the Codex celebrates with an animated toast notification and the Minecraft challenge-complete sound. No milestone goes unnoticed.

🤖 A Note on Development

Wanderer's Codex was designed and built collaboratively with Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. The mod concept, feature design, all Java source code, UI layout, flavor text, and milestone system were developed through an iterative conversation — with a human directing the vision and Claude handling the implementation. This was just a personal project to see what Claude was capable of.
