VeilChat is a lightweight client-side Minecraft Fabric mod that gives you more control over the chat and game messages you see while playing multiplayer.

Instead of changing the server's chat system, VeilChat works locally on your Minecraft client and lets you decide which messages should appear on your screen.

Whether you're playing on an SMP, survival server, PvP server, or a busy multiplayer network, VeilChat helps reduce chat clutter and lets you build a cleaner, more personalized chat experience.

💬 Player Chat Filtering

Choose exactly which players' messages you want to see.

Add players to your personal allow-list:

/veil allow <player>

When player filtering is enabled, messages from players who aren't on your allow-list are hidden from your client.

For example:

Steve: Hey!                 ✓ Visible
Alex: Come to spawn!       ✓ Visible
RandomPlayer: Hello!       ✗ Hidden
Player123: Anyone online?  ✗ Hidden

Your filtering only affects what you see. Other players continue to see normal chat.

👤 Player Allow-List

Manage your personal list of players directly in-game.

/veil allow <player>
/veil deny <player>
/veil list
/veil clear

Allow adds a player to your list.

Deny removes a player.

List displays your currently allowed players.

Clear removes everyone from the list.

🚪 Join & Leave Filter

Hide player join and leave notifications when your server is busy.

Hide common Minecraft death notifications from your chat.

🏆 Advancement Filter

Hide advancement, challenge, and goal notifications.

📢 Game & Server Message Filter

Hide general game/server messages received by your client.

This can help reduce chat clutter on servers that frequently send automated messages and notifications.

⚙️ Command-Style Message Filter

Filter recognizable command-generated message formats such as common whisper, message, /me, and /say style messages.

/veil filter commands on

Because servers can customize their message formats, detection may vary between servers.

📱 Action-Bar Filter

Control action-bar messages separately from normal chat.

🔘 Master Filter

Temporarily disable all VeilChat filtering without changing your individual filter settings.

Disable:

/veil off

Enable again:

/veil on

📊 Status

Check your current VeilChat configuration at any time:

The status command displays your master filter, individual filters, and the number of players currently on your allow-list.

🧠 How VeilChat Works

VeilChat is built around a simple concept:

The server sends the messages. VeilChat decides what you see.

When a message reaches your Minecraft client, VeilChat can determine whether that message should be displayed based on your current filters.

This makes VeilChat a client-side experience mod rather than a server-side chat management plugin.

🛡️ Client-Side

VeilChat is designed to run on the client.

You do not need to install VeilChat on the server for its client-side filtering features.

Other players also do not need to have VeilChat installed.

Your filters are personal and only affect the messages displayed on your own Minecraft client.

VeilChat does not give you server permissions, modify other players' clients, or change the server's chat configuration.

⚡ Lightweight

VeilChat is designed to stay lightweight and focused on chat-related functionality.

It does not attempt to replace Minecraft's networking system or add unnecessary gameplay mechanics.

Its primary purpose is to give players more control over their chat and notifications while keeping the mod simple and performance-friendly.

📦 Installation

Requirements

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11
Fabric Loader latest

Installation

Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 1.21.11.
Install the compatible Fabric API version.
Download the latest VeilChat .jar.
Place the VeilChat .jar inside your Minecraft mods folder.
Launch Minecraft using your Fabric installation.

Your mods folder should look similar to:

After installing VeilChat and joining a server:

⚠️ Important Notes

Some servers use custom chat formats, plugins, translations, or heavily modified messages.

Because of this, certain filters — especially join/leave, death, advancement, and command-style message detection — may behave differently depending on how a server formats its messages.

VeilChat is primarily designed around the standard Minecraft/Fabric chat and game-message experience.
