Utility Nexus Admin (1.1.0)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
v1.1.0 - Alphabetical creative tabs (Minecraft 1.21.1)
New client-side quality-of-life feature: the creative inventory tab bar is now sorted alphabetically by the name each player actually sees. Built for Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge 21.1.249 (Java 21).
🎨 Creative tabs, sorted A–Z
The problem
NeoForge builds the creative tab order once, when the registries are frozen: the ten
vanilla tabs first, then every mod tab appended at the end — unless a mod declares
withTabsBefore / withTabsAfter edges. The result is a topological
sort by tab id, so on a pack with dozens of mods the tab bar ends up grouped by mod instead
of by name, and finding a tab means scanning the whole bar (NeoForge pages it 10 tabs at a
time).
The fix
- Tabs are sorted by display name — the label the player reads, not the tab id
- Sorting uses the collation rules of the player's own language, so a
Spanish client gets
Armasnext toBloquesand accented names sort with their own letter (Añadirlands with the A entries) - Ties fall back to the registry id, so the order is deterministic across launches (a tab with an unresolved translation key simply sorts by that key)
Scope and notes
- Only the order of the tabs changes; the items inside each tab are untouched
- The hotbar, search, operator and inventory tabs keep their fixed columns — NeoForge draws them separately and they are unaffected
- Client side only. The mixin sits in the
clientlist of the mixin config, so a dedicated server neither applies it nor loads any client class - Disable it with
creative.sortTabsAlphabetically = falseinconfig/utility_nexus/admin/config.toml, or live with/una config set creative.sortTabsAlphabetically false
Notes
No change to the datapack loader, the chunk pregenerator, the/unacommand tree or any existing config key — this release only adds one new boolean. Verified:./gradlew clean buildis green.
