What's new

v26.1.2-5 Release - Oct 12, 2026

✨ New Features

  • Mining Skill Cards from data packs: data/<namespace>/mining_skill_cards/<name>.json adds a card type for other tools, with a name, its tools (item ids or #tags), an icon item for the card, and its Mine-Go Juice's juice_color and juice_name. Challenges name the type in for_card_type (mypack:hammer). The types reload with /reload and are sent to every player.

    • name and juice_name can be translation keys, for a resource pack's language files (plain text shows as written); without a name the key is ultimine_addition.card_type.<namespace>.<name>, and without a juice_name the juice is named by that key with .juice when a language file has it.
    • A type with no challenges for one of its tiers is skipped with a message in the log, and a tier with fewer challenges than a card rolls gives the card all of them (it used to crash the world).
    • Their cards are one generic item (mining_skill_card_generic, the type on the stack), crafted from an empty card and one of the type's tools. Their Mine-Go Juice is one generic drink (mine_go_juice_generic) and one effect, in the type's color, brewed from the card like the others; a player has one data pack juice at a time. Neither is in the creative tab or JEI.
  • Ultimine shapes from data packs: data/<namespace>/ultimine_shapes/<name>.json adds a shape to FTB Ultimine's list. Draw it as a pattern of rows facing the block (o the block you break, # a block), list blocks as [right, up, depth] offsets, or both; "repeat": "depth" turns it into a tunnel, and name is what players see. The shapes reload with /reload, are sent to every player, can be taught by Shape Certificates through the server config's lists, and get a diagram in the Skills Record like any other.

  • Rewards from data packs: data/<namespace>/ultimine_rewards/<name>.json hands out a loot_table, experience and/or commands (run as the server, @s is the player) "when": "challenge" a card's challenge is completed, "when": "tier" a card reaches a tier, or "when": "timed" the daily challenge is done. challenge, card_type and tier narrow a reward down.

  • Daily challenge: one challenge shared by everyone on the server, picked anew each day (or each week: progression.timed_challenge in the server config, off to disable). It needs no card or Skills Record: doing it with the right tool counts. Finishing it gives experience and a while of Mine-Go Juice for its tool (timed_challenge_experience, timed_challenge_juice). A notice shows it after joining and as it progresses; /ultimine_addition challenge shows it any time.

  • Undo history: Ctrl + H lists the Ultimine operations you can still undo, newest first, with what each costs, how long it stays undoable, and whether it's out of reach or its spots are taken.

  • The Shape Selector shows a small diagram of each shape in its list.

  • A Shape Certificate for a data pack card type shows that type's icon.

  • Card perks: a Mining Skill Card reaching Novice, Apprentice or Adept offers one of two perks for its tool, picked from the tier's box in the Skills Record (after its Shape Certificate) and kept for good: Reach (a quarter more blocks in an Ultimine), Magnet (drops go into the inventory), Fortune (lucky finds twice as often in that tool's challenges) or Vigor (a few seconds of Haste after an Ultimine). progression.card_perks turns them off; /ultimine_addition stats lists yours.

  • Tool affinity: a tool counts the blocks Ultimined with it (shown in its tooltip); every 500 add a percent to the blocks its Ultimines can take, up to ten (progression.tool_affinity).

  • Favourite shapes: /ultimine_addition favorite <shape> marks or unmarks a shape; with any marked, cycling shapes only goes through those. favorite alone lists them and favorite clear unmarks all.

  • An Ultimine of eight blocks or more ends with a soft chime, higher the bigger it was (general.ultimine_sound).

  • Prestige: a Mastered Mining Skill Card can start over as Unlearned from its Mastered box in the Skills Record (two clicks, up to five times). Each time adds 5% to the blocks an Ultimine with the card's tool can take, for good, and the tiers' perks and Shape Certificates can be claimed again on the way back up (mining_skill_cards.prestige).

  • Undo for tool actions: stripping logs, tilling and making paths with Ultimine can be undone like mined blocks, for nothing; the blocks still as the tool left them are turned back.

  • Bound cards: with mining_skill_cards.bind_to_player on, a card belongs to the first player who makes progress on it and nobody else can progress it. Off by default.

  • Juice that waits: with progression.juice_idle_pause set to a number of seconds, a drunk Mine-Go Juice only runs down for that long after each Ultimine. Off (0) by default.

  • Advancements: for the first undo, the first daily challenge, the first perk, an Ultimine of 64 blocks, and 1,000 blocks Ultimined.

  • The Skills Record's tooltip (with Shift) shows your Ultimine statistics.

  • Shape Designer: draw a shape of your own on a 5 x 5 grid around the block being broken, up to four layers deep behind it, with a preview in 3D that turns when dragged; name it and save it; it joins FTB Ultimine's shape list. Opened with the pencil button in the Shape Selector. You learn your shape for the tools you can already Ultimine with, so it is no way around the challenges. /ultimine_addition my_shapes lists yours and my_shapes delete <number> removes one. progression.custom_shapes_per_player (3; 0 turns it off) and custom_shapes_max_blocks (8) set the limits.

    • The designer lists the shapes you keep beside the board: pick one to load it onto the grid, replace it with the drawing (it keeps its place in your lists) or delete it. Copy and Paste carry a drawing through the clipboard as JSON, to share it; the JSON is also a valid ultimine_shapes data pack file, and a data pack shape that fits 5 x 5 x 5 can be pasted.
  • More card perks, by tier: six new perks (Sated, Thrifty, Insight, Expanse, Frenzy, Tireless), and every perk now belongs to a tier, so the stronger ones come later. Novice offers Magnet, Vigor, Sated (half the Ultimine hunger) and Thrifty (a quarter less tool wear); Apprentice adds Reach, Fortune and Insight (1 experience per 8 blocks); Adept adds Expanse (another quarter more blocks), Frenzy (Haste II) and Tireless (no Ultimine hunger). A tier's box offers its own tier's perks first.

  • Favourite star: every shape in the Shape Selector's list has a star; marking any makes shape cycling go through the marked ones only.

  • Team daily challenge: what one member does for the daily challenge also counts for the teammates who are online. A team is an FTB Teams party when that mod is installed, otherwise a scoreboard team (progression.timed_challenge_team).

  • Hooks for packs: data pack function tags run as the player at each progression moment: ultimine_addition:on_challenge_completed, on_tier_reached, on_daily_completed, on_perk_learned and on_prestige. On NeoForge with KubeJS, the same moments are server script events: UltimineAdditionEvents.challengeCompleted, tierReached, dailyCompleted, perkLearned and prestige (each with player, cardType, tier, challenge and detail).

  • Stages: a challenge's conditions can list stages the player must have. A stage is an entity tag (/tag <player> add <stage>), which scripts and other mods can give too.

  • Challenge conditions: a challenge file's conditions limit where it counts: dimensions, biomes (ids, or tags starting with #), min_y and max_y. The card viewer and the daily challenge say so.

  • Challenge chains: a challenge with requires (a list of challenge ids) is only rolled by a card that has completed those, so packs can build follow-ups.

  • Reward previews: a challenge's data pack rewards show in its details in the card viewer before they are earned. A reward's description (text or a translation key) says what it is; without one the preview names the experience and says whether there are items.

  • Statistics and a leaderboard: /ultimine_addition stats shows your blocks Ultimined, largest Ultimine, challenges, daily challenges and undos; /ultimine_addition top [blocks|largest|challenges|dailies|undos] ranks the players seen since the server started.

  • Drops to inventory: general.drops_to_inventory in the server config sends an Ultimine's drops straight to the player; what doesn't fit stays on the ground.

🐛 Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Blocks an undo puts back never count for challenges again, whatever is_placed_by_entity_condition and its deny tag say: mining, undoing and mining again could otherwise be repeated for progress. The daily challenge follows the same rule.
  • A Mining Skill Card shows its tool as an item on its plate (the netherite tool for the built-in cards) instead of a picture baked into the texture: the card textures leave the plate empty. The tool is part of the card's item model, so it shows in the hand, on the ground and in item frames too.
  • The Mining Skill Card textures have a slot behind the tool, like the one behind the empty card's question mark.
  • A generic Mining Skill Card or a Shape Certificate whose card type no data pack has anymore shows a question mark where the tool goes, and the certificate is named "Unknown" instead of a raw translation key.
  • Removed the half-transparent shadow pixels along the right and bottom edges of the Mining Skill Card textures (they showed as see-through pixels on a held card).
  • A Shape Certificate you carry and haven't used yet is no longer offered again by the next tier's certificate for the same tool.
  • The card viewer's Mastered box no longer says "Mastered" twice.
  • Right-clicking a challenge in the card viewer opens a menu: details, pin, reroll, and for operators with the edit mode on, edit, complete, reset and copy its id. Right-clicking a tier box opens one for the tier: claim its certificate or perk, pin or unpin all its challenges, and for operators, complete or reset them all.
  • The Choose a Shape and Choose a Perk panels are redrawn: a cleaner header with the tier as a chip, perks as rows that say what they do, and shapes on plates with dots for the rest of the list.
  • The Mine-Go Juice effect icons show the redrawn Mining Skill Card (a mastered card with the juice's tool) instead of the old card.
  • The Shape Designer is drawn on the Shape Selector's blueprint, with its layers in a column beside the grid; dragging over the grid draws or erases a stroke and the wheel steps through the layers.
  • Mine-Go Juice now sets the Ultimine block limit of its tier again (the check for an active juice never matched on 26.1.2).
  • A challenge of a custom card type only counts with one of that type's own tools (any custom type's tool used to do).
  • Redesigned the Skills Record's shape choice (picking a Shape Certificate's shape): each shape is a tile with a small diagram of the shape, its name and a stripe in the color of the tier it comes from, under a header in the tier's color. The hovered tile lifts and turns gold. The diagrams aren't drawn by hand: the server asks FTB Ultimine for each shape's blocks and sends their outline, so shapes from other mods and plugins get one too.
  • The shape choice shows three shapes at a time, with their names at full size on up to two lines; the mouse wheel and the arrows beside Back scroll through the rest.
  • On Fabric, Glazed Menu's update check reads the mod's own Fabric update file.

⚙️ Refactoring

  • Removed the custom card files in config/ultimine_addition/custom_cards and the CustomMSCApi / IUAPlugin API: card types come from data packs now. Cards and juices of the old custom types (their own items) are gone with them.
