Tree Trimmer+

Tree Trimmer+ is a configurable Fabric mod that makes harvesting trees faster, cleaner, and more satisfying.

Instead of manually breaking every log in a tree, you can chop a single log and let Tree Trimmer+ process the rest of the detected structure. Choose between several breaking and animation styles, control which portion of the tree is affected, and reduce the number of floating logs and leaves left behind.

Tree Trimmer+ provides familiar tree-felling functionality while giving players more control over how trees are detected and how they come down.

Tree Chopping Modes

Tree Trimmer+ currently includes four different ways to process a detected tree.

Instantaneous

The detected tree is broken immediately after you finish chopping one log.

The remaining logs are removed quickly, and matching leaves belonging to the detected tree are broken so they are not left floating in the air.

This is the fastest and most direct option for players who primarily want efficient wood gathering.

Shift Down

The trunk behaves as though it is being lowered one block at a time.

When you chop a log, the logs above it shift downward into the newly opened space instead of the entire tree disappearing at once. Leaves belonging to the detected tree are broken as the trunk is processed.

This creates a more gradual tree-chopping effect while still keeping harvesting quick and convenient.

Fall Item

Each log receives a falling-item-style animation before it breaks.

The logs appear to drop downward as item entities, and the real log blocks are removed after a short delay. This mode is more visual and animated than Instantaneous, while still ultimately breaking the tree and producing its normal drops.

Tree Fall

The tree physically falls over onto the ground.

Logs above the chopped block are placed outward from the stump in the selected fall direction, and their log axis is rotated horizontally to match the fallen trunk.

Tree Fall attempts to:

Place the trunk along the terrain below
Clear leaves and replaceable blocks obstructing the fall
Allow some leaves to fall around or remain near the fallen trunk
Break most remaining leaves normally
Preserve the appearance of a tree that has actually been cut down

This is the most immersive chopping mode and is intended for players who want tree harvesting to feel more physical and visually dramatic.

Tree Detection Modes

Tree Trimmer+ also allows you to control how much of a tree is selected when you chop a log.

Whole Tree

Scans the connected tree structure using logs and nearby leaves.

This is the standard full-tree detection mode and is intended for completely harvesting a tree from a single chopped log.

Above Cut

Only processes the portion of the detected tree above the log you chopped.

Logs and relevant tree blocks below the cut remain in place. This is useful when trimming large trees or when you want to leave part of the trunk standing.

Above Y

Uses a vertical cutoff based on the configured Y offset.

Only blocks above the calculated height threshold are included. This provides more precise control over how much of the tree is removed and can be useful when trimming canopies, large trunks, or custom tree structures.

Configuration

Tree Trimmer+ uses Cloth Config to provide customizable settings.

Depending on the available options in your version, configuration may include settings related to:

Tree chopping mode
Tree detection mode
Above Y cutoff or offset
Log and leaf processing
Animation behavior
Tree-fall behavior
Detection limits
Performance and safety limits

Mod Menu is optional but recommended. When installed, it provides a convenient way to access the Tree Trimmer+ configuration screen directly from Minecraft’s Mods menu.

Mod Loader Support

Tree Trimmer+ is currently available only for Fabric.

Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, and other mod loaders are not currently supported.

Multiplayer

Tree Trimmer+ can be used in multiplayer. Install the mod and its required dependencies on the server and participating clients to ensure consistent behavior and access to its configuration and visual features.

Modded Tree Compatibility

Tree Trimmer+ is designed to work with vanilla trees and compatible modded trees that use recognizable log, leaf, and connected-tree structures.

Trees with unusual construction, custom block behavior, nonstandard tags, or heavily modified harvesting systems may not always be detected in the same way as ordinary trees.
