The mod fundamentally changes the trading system, transforming a boring and crude process into one familiar to many from RPG games.

Description

General

Love trading with villagers, but always wanted more? This mod transforms ordinary merchants into fully-fledged RPG NPCs.

We present to you a mod that completely overhauls the trading system, making it more RPG-like. Here you can:

  • Buy items from villagers in the required quantities
  • Sell your items to villagers
  • Unlock new trade offers as your villagers level up
  • Craft items (including unique ones) from existing items/tools/resources/weapons/armor while preserving the properties of the original item (enchantments and NBT tags)
  • Dismantle unwanted items into their component parts
  • Repair your tools/weapons/armor

And all of this is configurable down to the last detail! Want more details? Check them out below!

Features

Trade

As mentioned earlier, trading in the game is changing dramatically. Now, when interacting with a villager, a new GUI opens, in which the first thing they see are two panels: the player's inventory on the left, and the villager's inventory on the right. Yes, you can now fully trade with a villager without opening two trade offers per level or disrupting their workstation because they're selling the wrong goods. They can now trade large quantities of goods at once, which are replenished and refreshed every two in-game days (40 minutes of real time; the refresh time can be changed in the mod configuration). The player can also sell their items, earning money. Just harvested your farm and need a place to put the seeds? Don't throw them away. Sell them to a farmer instead. Or maybe you just dug up a lot of coal you don't need after returning from the mine? Sell it to a craftsman!

As your villager levels up, they'll open new trades. Just like in the vanilla game, but much better! The villager will only trade and buy what's specified in their configuration. So if you find the base prices unfair or want to expand the selection of goods, you can always adjust the mod's settings to suit your needs.

Craft

Now, with the help of villagers, you can craft various items. For example, by approaching a fletcher, you can make a bow. But what's the difference between this system and a regular workbench? First, a villager can take fewer resources, although you'll have to pay for the work itself. Second, you can upgrade your items. For example, according to the standard settings, you can craft or buy an iron pickaxe and enchant it, but sooner or later, everyone will reach the point where they need to upgrade to a diamond pickaxe or another higher-grade pickaxe. Normally, you'd simply craft a pickaxe from the diamonds you already have and forget about the old one. But with this mod, you can take your enchanted pickaxe, approach a villager, and for fewer diamonds, upgrade your enchanted iron pickaxe to a diamond one while maintaining its enchantments. And if you play with mods that add new stats to pickaxes (for example, in the form of NBT tags), they will also be transferred to the new pickaxe. Convenient? Of course!

Besides upgrades, you can also craft items that you can't make due to gameplay conventions. Of course, this is all configurable and limited only by your imagination.

The crafting system itself opens up limitless possibilities for modpack authors when it comes to equipment. The number of ways to use the crafting system with the help of villagers is practically limitless!

Disassemble

It's not uncommon to find a lot of valuable items after your travels that you don't need. There's no point in hoarding this junk; simply dismantle them for their components, which you can use elsewhere. Searched a ruined portal and found gold items you don't need? Dismantle them with a villager for a small fee and get gold bars. There are plenty of examples. Just like the previous systems, you can customize everything here. However, you can only dismantle items that have crafting options in the crafting table or in the player's inventory in a 2x2 grid.

Repair

Sooner or later, many people find their favorite items breaking, and repairing them with experience no longer seems so cheap and easy. Yes, you can try to find a Repair book, but that's time-consuming. However, if you have some coins lying around, you can have your items repaired directly by a craftsman.

FAQ

Q: Will the mod be ported to later versions?
A: No, it definitely won't be ported to versions older than 1.20.1.

Q: Will there be updates for newer versions?
A: It's entirely possible. Updating mods across versions isn't an easy task, but it's quite likely to happen in the future, once everything I originally planned for this mod is completed for 1.20.1.

Q: Will there be a port to other mod loaders?
A: No. At least for now, I'm the only one working on the team, the mod will be exclusively in Fabric.

Q: Can I use this mod for my own build that will be published elsewhere?
A: Yes, of course! However, I ask that you please keep the authorship information confidential and provide attribution where appropriate.
