The World Before independently recreates Beta 1.7.3 terrain generation while running inside modern Minecraft. The same seed produces the original terrain, biome, cave, ore, tree, lake, dungeon and vegetation layouts—without requiring another world-generation mod.

Texture packs

The mod does not redistribute Mojang’s legacy assets.

You can use original or properly licensed Past Packs, or privately import a Beta 1.7.3 texture-pack ZIP that you already own. Conversion happens locally and the resulting pack is automatically enabled while visiting the dimension.

Modpack compatibility

Modern and modded content remains usable by default. Pack authors can configure survival behavior, allow additional world-generation features, add compatible structures, extend portal frames and restrict items if desired.

Optional additions are kept separate from the exact Beta generation pipeline, so the default experience preserves seed parity.
