# The Unfinished
*Somewhere behind the world is the page it was drafted on. The linework is still wet. The margins are still arguing. Some of it is being erased.*
**The Unfinished** adds a hand-drawn paper dimension to Minecraft — cream paper terrain, wobbly india-ink linework, blue construction lines, and the occasional red margin note. Everything in it looks, sounds, and behaves like a sketchbook that woke up before the artist finished.
For **Minecraft 1.21.1** on **NeoForge 21.1.0+**. Required on both client and server.

## Getting in
Craft an **Architect's Quill**, build a flat panel of **Blank Canvas** (2×2 up to 6×6), and use the quill on it. The canvas swirls into a Sketched Doorway, and the page takes you.
## What's on the other side
**Five biomes.** The Blank Expanse and its graphite spires, the scribbled Crosshatch Forest, the red-ruled Margins, the dripping Inkfen with its ink pools — and **The Erasure**, a pale hush at the edge of the drawing where the world is being rubbed back out. High above it all drift **Loose Leaves**: torn floating pages with loot for whoever climbs to them.
**A cast of living marks.** Doodles squeak like pencils. Smudges seethe and un-draw the ground. Inkwings flutter on folded pages. Scribbles skitter, Marginalia mutters over its books and barters for treasures, Bookwyrms nibble paper from your hand, and Eraser Wisps drift through the Erasure leaving you Faded — softer, slower, less certain of your own outline.
**A fully original soundscape — nearly 100 sounds.** Paper blocks rustle and tear, ink squelches and bubbles, quills scratch and chime. The dimension hums with wind through pages and distant, unseen writing. And there's music: *First Draft*, a music-box waltz that deliberately never resolves, found on a music disc if you dig deep enough.
**The Blot — a three-phase boss.** Summon it by pouring an Overflowing Inkwell onto a Block of Ink, then survive Spill, Splatter, and Deluge: fanned volleys, summoned smudges, ink novas, and a hide that thickens as its temper shortens. It drops the materials for the strongest tools on the page.
**The Illustrator.** Use the quill on an Unfinished Masterpiece if you're feeling brave. The thing that never finished the drawing would like a word. It drops the **Masterstroke**, a fencing pen that smears the outline of everything it touches.
**The Archive Vault.** A half-buried reading room hidden in the Erasure — manuscript shelves, still-burning lamps, chests of archived treasures, and librarians who do not approve of borrowers.
## Draw, ink, erase
The dimension's core loop is the pen itself:
- **Sketch** ghost-blocks into the air with the Author's Pen, then **ink them permanent** with a quill.
- **Draw a friend:** place a Blank Canvas on a Block of Ink and quill it — an **Ink Golem** stands up and fights for you.
- **Take it back:** the **Eraser** rubs inked terrain down to sketch lines, and sketch lines out of existence.
- **Ink Bombs** burst into blinding, smudging splatter. Throw responsibly.
- Progress from **Graphite tools** to **Inkbound tools** — graphite dipped in the Blot's own ink and made permanent: 1,420 durability, fast, and eager to be enchanted.
## Also on the page
Draftstone brick, pillar, and chiseled sets for building; a full Inkwood wood set including doors, trapdoors, buttons, and pressure plates; Draftsman paper armor; Doodle Blossoms and Inkberries (the dimension's first food); 19 advancements with proper punnery; subtitles for every custom sound.
