The Otherworld is the story of a new dimension, with five different worlds in one.

Each world is unique, having their own dirt, stone, grass, trees, sky, and even their own cave biomes and resources.

The dimension itself consists of floating chunks of land completely alien to each other.
Below the flat surface of the terrain, the lands are steep and rough to navigate, and underneath the islands is the void, waiting to swallow the ones who fall.
Each world even has its own fantasy race that lives within the bounds of their land. They have set up villages, farms, outposts, and campsites. Some try to live in peace, while others would rather fight for their lands.

Worlds now generate transition biomes between regions, and beneath every island lies a unique cave system where ores like Rosegold, Opal, and Sapphire spawn exclusively!

NPCs live in dynamic villages, solo traveler camps, and custom outposts depending on their race.


Starting the Game:

When the player enters the world, they will have the choice to be a human, or one of the fantasy races.
If the player decides to be a race other than human, they will begin their journey within The Otherworld.

Psst: Need a mid-game reroll? Craft or nab the Orb of Destiny to reset your character (race, gender, interactions, everything!).

The Starting Races:

Human Race


A race with a strong urge to strive for more. They once ruled the Overworld, now they struggle to survive the deadly nights...

Attributes: None.
Special Ability: None (you’re only human, after all).
Type: Normal

Oni Race


A tough, horned barbarian race that has no tolerance to any stranger who wanders into their Motherland.

Attributes: +8 natural armor, +4 attack damage, immune to thorns & berry bushes.
Special Ability: Press Z to grant yourself temporary Strength and Resistance buffs.
Type: Normal

Roseian Race


A sensitive pink race born from Rose Quartz. They have the ability to heal themselves and others.

Attributes: Heals themselves with regeneration, takes +1 physical damage.
Special Ability: Press Z to spawn a glowing healing cloud that mends allies and scorches undead nearby.
Type: Magical

Fairie Race


A magical race and the core of the Otherworld, the Fairies are wise with many tales that they'd rather not disclose to the unworthy.

Attributes: Slow falling. Context-sensitive magic spells (+1 Wither damage).
Special Ability: Press Z to weave situational magic: levitate at will, douse flames with fire-resistance, gain Conduit Power underwater, enchant held items, and more.
Type: Magical

Emberian Race


A prideful race made of ash and fire. Their hair glows and their skin is burning to the touch.

Attributes: Immune to fire, takes +1 freeze damage, ignites mobs and blocks.
Special Ability: Press Z to unleash a fiery pulse that sets everything around you ablaze – friends, foes, and foliage alike.
Type: Elemental

Iceian Race


A stubborn, strong race that is made up of ice. They are comfortable in freezing temperatures and draw their strength in the arctic.

Attributes: Immune to freeze, takes +1 fire damage, freezes mobs & water.
Special Ability: Press Z to flash-freeze nearby entities and turn water into temporary ice.
Type: Elemental

Every race’s ability costs 1 XP level and has a short cooldown, so time your power moves!


Occupations:

Traveler: The default starting occupation. Live by your own rules, go as you please.

Soldier: Serve your race, accept quests, defend the homeland.

Criminal: Kill one of your own race and you’ll be hunted, jailed, or worse.

Delinquent: Petty theft (like raiding NPC chests) brands you a delinquent!


Quests & Bounties:

Complete story-focused quests for items, XP, and progress. Quest-givers have blue name tags.

An AI Dialogue System (Ollama) can generate unique quests on the fly—toggle automatic install in the config!

Bounties: Highest-rank criminals earn a bounty. Other players can hunt them down for rewards (multiplayer only).


NPC Interactions:

Right-click to talk— NPCs respond based on relationship, race, gender, events, and wars.

Ollama Dialogue enables a full chat window that lets you type actual sentences.

Relationships:

  • Friendly interactions (AI dialogue) → relationship increases
  • Negative interactions (AI dialogue) → relationship decreases
  • Give food / gifts → relationship increases drastically
  • Damage / steal → relationship decreases drastically

Trading:

Like villagers—but each race uses its own currency (e.g., Onis trade iron ingots). NPCs even trade with each other!
