Terrarium 1.1.0
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Terrarium 1.1.0 is a truly huge update to the mod that I've been working on for the past year and a half. It improves compatibility, stability, and the overall experience of the mod. Here's the highlights:
+ Optional CubicChunks support! Although it is not required, it is highly recommended to install CubicChunks alongside Terrarium to allow the mod to generate beyond the y=256 height limit
+ 1:30m elevation data resolution! This is a huge improvement over the former 1:90m data resolution, and greatly improves the realism of terrain.
+ Elevation data for below sea-level! The ocean is no longer an infinite flat plane, but much more interesting.
+ Much larger world scale range! You can now tweak world scale from 1:1m all the way to 1:40,000m. This is possible due to the introduction of varied data resolution in the backend: basically, the mod can load data at a lower resolution if it needs less fine information.
+ Integration of soil, temperature and rainfall data! This allows world generation to be a lot more accurate.
+ Vegetation suitability modelling! Vegetation placement should now also be a lot more accurate: instead of traditionally selecting trees by the biome type, Terrarium now selects trees based on what species it believes would generate best given the conditions in that area.
+ Compatibility Mode: this replaces the old “enable modded generators” option, but instead offsets modded generation to be relative to the terrain surface. This should reduce many modded generation issues, but may come with drawbacks of its own.
+ Biomes O’ Plenty support! Although it is currently limited, it allows the generation of some BoP biomes and trees within the world which should make things more interesting. Recommended to be used in addition to Compatibility Mode.
+ Dynamic Trees support! If you have Dynamic Trees installed, they should properly replace the default trees.
+ A new customization previewer: this is a lot faster, allowing for real-time updates as you drag the sliders.
+ A bunch of new customization options: this allows much finer tweaking of how the world should generate.
+ Some new presets with custom icons to make them more easily distinguishable
+ New data preloading GUI accessible from the /geotool command
* Majorly rework mod internals: this should result in a much smoother and more stable experience.
* Many changes to how the mod generates terrain: it should generally look a lot better, and more faithful to vanilla.
* Reworked biome selection: it should be a lot more diverse now. Although, biomes do not directly determine generation
* Huge improvements to structure generation: shouldn't end up with floating villages anymore
* Fixed all the bugs and made a whole lot more, probably
