What's new

1.4.0 — Named by the World

Version 1.4.0 introduces Soul Recognition, a new form of progression centered on the life your character has lived.

The world now remembers your journey. It watches where you travel, what you master, whom you protect, what you destroy, and what kind of power you pursue. When that life has taken a clear enough shape, the Great Crystal Altar can recognize who you have become—and name you accordingly.

Soul Recognition

Soul Recognition is shaped by two sides of your character:

  • Good, Neutral, or Evil
  • Lawful, Neutral, or Chaotic

Together, they form nine possible paths, ranging from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil. A life devoted overwhelmingly to one direction may instead achieve a stricter Pure Recognition.

Recognition is not decided through a menu or a single choice. It grows naturally from your actions throughout the incarnation, including:

  • Exploration and meaningful advancements
  • Skill mastery and personal development
  • Leadership over subordinates
  • Protecting or harming civilians
  • Combat behavior and defeated enemies
  • Boss encounters
  • True Hero and True Demon Lord progression
  • Your existing Tensura alignment and authority

Remaining inactive will not create a meaningful identity. Even True Neutral represents an actively lived and developed life.

Once the altar begins the naming ritual, the result belongs to that incarnation. Disconnecting, dying, changing dimension, or interrupting the presentation cannot be used to choose another outcome.

A Name Earned Through Life

The world may grant one of 162 curated titles, each written for a particular recognition path.

That title becomes part of the character’s recognized identity and is synchronized across chat, nametags, and the player list. It exists alongside Tensura’s native naming system rather than replacing the history that came before it.

An existing Tensura name no longer prevents the world from recognizing the player.

The Strength of an Identity

Recognition leaves more than a title behind.

Depending on how clearly the character embodied their path, Soul Recognition grants:

  • Between 10% and 20% permanent Identity Strength
  • An additional 2.5% for Pure Recognition
  • Up to 1,000,000 EP of additional native HIGH endowment capacity, divided between maximum magicules and aura

These rewards reflect the life that was evaluated when the ritual began. They are granted once and cannot be increased by repeatedly reconnecting or synchronizing the character.

Additional capacity only grants the newly gained amount. It does not repeatedly refill magicules or aura that have already been spent.

The Recognition Ritual

Soul Recognition takes place at the Great Crystal Altar.

During the ritual, the player falls into stasis as the altar reveals the identity formed by their journey. Darkness, soul particles, sound, narration, and the final title presentation accompany the recognition.

If the player still possesses Sage, the altar first leads them through the evolution into Great Sage. Soul Recognition then begins through a separate interaction afterward.

Committed rituals are preserved across interruptions. If the presentation cannot finish immediately, the altar can safely continue revealing the already-determined result later.

Understanding Your Journey

The Soul Recognition interface gathers the system’s information into one place:

  • Overview shows the direction in which the character’s life is developing.
  • Paths explains the nine possible identities.
  • Benefits describes the strength granted by recognition.
  • Guidance offers progression hints without revealing every hidden calculation.

The normal player commands are now gathered under:

  • /moostensura
  • /moostensura guide
  • /moostensura paths
  • /moostensura help

Development and recovery commands remain restricted to administrators.

Sage and Great Sage

The default EP requirement for evolving Sage into Great Sage at the altar has been lowered from 100,000 EP to 60,000 EP.

The remaining requirements are unchanged:

  • Sage
  • Level 45
  • 25 relative levels for the ritual

Worlds using the former default of 100,000 EP will migrate automatically. Manually configured requirements are preserved.

Great Sage evolution now clearly receives altar priority while the player still has Sage, preventing its requirements from being confused with the separate Soul Recognition ritual.

A New Incarnation

Addon progression is now tied to a persistent incarnation.

Ordinary death, respawning, relogging, and dimension travel remain part of the same life. Recognition, titles, rewards, and progression survive these events.

Successfully completing a Tensura Character Reset begins a genuinely new incarnation. Life-bound recognition progress is cleared, allowing the new character to be judged by their own actions instead of inheriting the identity of the previous life.

Existing Worlds

Worlds created with version 1.3.1 remain supported.

  • Existing native Tensura names do not block Soul Recognition.
  • Native names are preserved as part of the character’s history.
  • Existing recognition and incarnation data are migrated safely.
  • The old default Great Sage requirement migrates to 60,000 EP.
  • Custom Great Sage configuration values remain unchanged.
  • /getnamed remains available only as an administrator recovery command.
  • Old recognition display data is repaired when necessary.

Backing up important worlds before updating is still recommended.

Reliability and Corrections

Version 1.4.0 also strengthens the systems surrounding naming, rituals, resets, and subordinate abilities:

  • Recognition can no longer be rerolled by interrupting the ritual.
  • Interrupted committed rituals can resume safely.
  • Native-named players are no longer skipped by Soul Recognition.
  • Duplicate native HIGH endowment requests are prevented.
  • Recognition titles now appear immediately in chat, nametags, and the player list.
  • Old /getnamed display names are replaced correctly after recognition.
  • Administrator unname operations no longer leave stale recognition data behind.
  • Character Reset only begins after the reset is successfully completed.
  • Recognition rewards remain consistent across saving, relogging, respawning, and dimension changes.
  • Future unsupported save versions are protected from accidental modification.
  • Combat credit is retained more reliably for projectiles, tamed creatures, subordinates, and delayed environmental deaths.
  • Temporary combat and subordinate-participation data now receives bounded cleanup.
  • Ultimate Skill multi-selection uses stronger server-side validation.
  • Recognition interface paging and English translations have been corrected and consolidated.
  • Player-facing messages now distinguish clearly between Great Sage and Soul Recognition requirements.

Datapack Compatibility

Much of the world’s understanding of the player is datapack-driven.

Civilians, enemies of civilians, bosses, structures, advancements, and other recognition evidence can be extended by datapacks and compatible Tensura addons without replacing the central evaluator.
