[TaCZ] Weapon Research & Blueprints 1.3.6
Version 1.3.6 adds two villager professions: the Gunsmith for equipment and the Ballistics Researcher for research supplies. Craft their job sites in an existing world and trade with unemployed adult villagers to build up their stock.
Highlights
- Place a Gunsmith Station for selected guns, matching ammo, attachments, and compatible basic magazines when TaCZ Magazines is installed.
- Place a Ballistics Desk for Research Data and targeted analysis fragments to use at the Blueprint Analyzer. Both professions advance through five levels.
- Villagers retain their chosen equipment and study targets when restocking, reloading the world, or being cured. Stock is shared between customers.
- Purchased guns arrive unloaded and do not teach their blueprints. Analyzing them produces protected research rewards that respect prerequisites; they cannot be recycled for found-weapon currency.
- Trade hints explain unavailable offers and magazine requirements. The Blueprint Journal includes trading guidance and scrolls on smaller screens.
- Spot each profession by its outfit: charcoal workwear and ear defenders for Gunsmiths, or a blue coat and inspection lens for Ballistics Researchers. Both have matching zombie variants and distinct job-site models.
- Pack authors can customize stock, prices, physical currency, discounts, and material purchases. Whole-blueprint and Tier 3 gun sales are off by default.
Material purchases provide renewable currency income and scale with the number of villagers. Servers wanting a stricter economy can disable those purchases. See the villager trading guide for setup and examples.
Fixes
- Fixed the portable Tech Tree's Journal button overlapping the branch-label toggle and opening the wrong view.
- Fixed rapid mouse-wheel and zoom-button inputs being lost during camera animation.
- Fixed Page Up/Page Down leaving the active search result offscreen. Enter no longer opens a result hidden by scrolling.
- Research details now show every material requirement through Previous/Next pages. Fixed path review rejecting a matching preview on later material pages.
- Fixed TaCZ Magazines crafting being blocked when blueprint progression is disabled, including when large catalogs exceed the restricted recipe-list limit.
- Villager trades recover after failed datapack reloads, preserve spent stock through price changes, and retain temporarily unavailable addon items.
- Custom trade fallbacks select compatible research targets and supply matching magazines for fallback guns. Disabled fallback branches stay unavailable.
Included from 1.3.5
For players updating from 1.3.4 or earlier, this release also includes:
- The Research Bench server crash fix for selecting research with enough materials but insufficient Scrap, including Scrap-only costs and paths with learned prerequisites. Unexpected preview failures safely disable research.
- Correct currency and material counts when the same item pays both costs, plus the correct physical-currency balance for research that creates a blueprint instead of learning it directly.
Updating
Install 1.3.6 on the server and every client, replacing the previous JAR and
keeping only one version of this mod in each mods folder. The network protocol
has changed, so older clients cannot join a 1.3.6 server.
Existing learned blueprints, Research Points, settings, and worlds are retained. No new world, currency conversion, or configuration reset is required when updating from 1.3.5. As with any mod update, back up the world and configuration before replacing the JAR. Craft the new job blocks to introduce the professions where you already play.
Requirements and compatibility
- Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.x, and Java 17.
- Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ) 1.1.8 or later in the 1.1 series.
- Fzzy Config 0.7.6 or later in the 0.7 series, with its required dependencies, including Kotlin for Forge.
- Optional magazine integration supports TaCZ Magazines 0.2.0-Beta.
JEI and EMI were tested separately. If installing them together, use versions that satisfy their own dependency requirements; EMI 1.1.24 requires JEI 15.20 or newer when both are present. Replacement merchant screens and villager-overhaul mods require pack-specific testing. Addon guns need explicitly configured trade pools and reviewed prices; installing a gun pack does not automatically put all its guns into villager stock.
