[TaCZ] Weapon Research & Blueprints 1.3.3

Version 1.3.3 makes the Tech Tree easier to browse, inspect, and navigate. Research details open with one click, costs are easier to compare, and branch labels, weapon artwork, and highlighted paths stay clearer as you zoom.

These notes include the changes from 1.3.2 as I didn't realize I never published it so it's getting skipped.

Highlights

  • One-click details: Click a blueprint to open its requirements immediately. More room goes to scrolling content, while purchase controls remain visible at smaller GUI sizes.
  • Clearer costs: One Resource / Have / Required table compares the active currency and materials for the entire purchase. Shortage messages include required unlearned predecessors as well as your selected blueprint.
  • Understand prerequisites: Groups explain which blueprints satisfy each requirement. Inspect a linked blueprint, then use Back to restore your target, view, and scroll position. Your tracked goal stays separate.
  • Review before researching: Use Path to see the blueprints and chosen prerequisites included in the current purchase, even when you cannot yet afford it. Following a prerequisite link only inspects that blueprint.
  • Focus your view: Use View to frame the selected blueprint or its branch. Visible branch titles also frame their branch when clicked.
  • Optional branch labels: The On/Off toggle remembers your choice across sessions. Labels avoid tree content, keep stable positions during navigation, and hide when there is no room.
  • More consistent nodes: Artwork fills the padded interior when a name is hidden. Names take only the space their lines need, retain pack colors when wrapped, and keep their layout when selected. Corner badges stay clear of names.
  • Readable paths: Immediate requirements, earlier possible prerequisites, and reviewed purchase paths have distinct emphasis. Earlier paths use a modest thickness cap when zoomed out, and the tracked goal keeps its own cyan marker.
  • Smoother navigation: Zoom stays anchored to the cursor. Details and search support fractional scrolling, the details scrollbar can be dragged, and Page Up/Down works in focused content. Resizing preserves useful context.
  • Minimap and artwork loading: AUTO minimap visibility responds to tree coverage with less flicker. Artwork preparation runs in the background while temporary blueprint icons keep the tree usable.
  • Input fixes: Help contains its own keyboard controls. New input after Back takes priority over a delayed response. Searches with no matches no longer trigger the reported exception, and empty or unavailable views offer recovery actions.

Station choices and fixes included from 1.3.2

  • Stations & Research Access: Operators can choose tiered stations, one Analyzer and one Research Bench, or Portable Research through the Journal / Research key. Portable Research includes a Journal button inside the tree.
  • Single Analyzer: The basic station can handle every weapon tier using each weapon's same-tier reward rules. A separate setting chooses Research Data reward strength without changing which weapons Notes, Reports, or Dossiers can target.
  • Independent crafting tiers: Single Bench and Portable Research satisfy bench-tier requirements. Crafting Workbench tiers remain separate; currency, materials, prerequisites, advancements, and custom milestones still apply.
  • Recipes follow the settings: Mode changes close open research stations and refresh bundled recipes. Single modes use basic station recipes, Portable Research removes Research Bench recipes, and tiered modes restore them. Existing higher-tier stations remain usable.
  • Research Designer support: Captured settings and offline Analyzer comparisons include station choices. Older projects retain their previous station behavior.
  • Packaged startup and crafting fixes: Includes the fix for the 1.3.1 packaged-server startup crash, plus the related native TaCZ crafting-menu and crafting-screen fixes.
  • Portable access checks: The server validates the active mode and session. Withdrawing portable access invalidates an existing portable research session.

Updating

Back up your world and settings, stop the game and server, and replace the old mod JAR with 1.3.3 on every client and the server. Keep only one version of this mod in each mods folder. The network protocol changed, so older mod versions cannot connect to 1.3.3.

Existing configurations retain their previous research-tier behavior through Use existing progression preset until an operator chooses another mode. Fresh installations default to tiered stations. Learned blueprints, discoveries, fragment archives, and saved Research Points (RP) remain intact. Station choices do not convert currency or reset progression.

For station configuration, see the station settings guide. If you are updating from 1.2.0, also read the combined 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 notes and the currency migration guide.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.x; built with Forge 47.3.0.
  • Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ) 1.1.8 or later in the 1.1 series; development testing uses 1.1.8-hotfix.
  • Fzzy Config 0.7.6 or later in the 0.7 series, with its required dependencies, including Kotlin for Forge.
  • Java 17. JEI 15.x and EMI 1.1.x are optional client-side integrations.
