StreamCraft Live v0.25.3: settings that stick, and the beam finds the screen

Everything since 0.25.0. Display Block settings now reach every player, players who join late see the picture on 26.2, the projector beam lines up under shader packs, and OBS Virtual Camera works at 1440p and 4K. Letting players without StreamCraft join a 26.2 Fabric server is now something the server owner switches on.

Display Block settings stay put

On Minecraft 1.21.6 and newer, turning off a projector's Light beam looked fine in the block's panel, but the beam came back on as soon as you pressed Done, and other players saw it on too. On 1.21.6 to 1.21.11, the Vertical position and the 1-pixel Shift nudges also snapped back to centered. The server was saving your choices; it just never told anyone's game about them. Now it does, so these settings stay where you put them for you and for everyone around you.

After updating, most screens show the settings you picked. If you reopened a block's panel and pressed Done again before this fix, the old value may have been saved over yours; set it once more and it will stay.

Players who join see the picture (26.2 Fabric)

On a 26.2 Fabric server, a player who joined while a projector was already showing a stream, or who walked back to it from far away, saw the projector with no picture. Its beam and position were wrong for them too, until the owner changed something. Now the picture and the right settings are there as soon as the projector comes into view.

The light beam reaches the screen with shader packs

With a shader pack such as BSL, Solas or Complementary, the projector's beam stopped partway to the screen and got worse the further away the screen was. The beam now runs from the lens all the way to the screen, on every Minecraft version. With a shader pack on, it is also softer, so the picture stays readable when you look through it.

Tested with BSL, Complementary Reimagined, Complementary Unbound, the COBBLEVERSE modpack's shaders and no shaders. Photon does not draw see-through beams, so with Photon the beam simply doesn't show; the screen itself is unaffected.

OBS Virtual Camera at 1440p and 4K (Windows)

If OBS was set to an output resolution above 1920x1080, picking OBS Virtual Camera failed with "Camera failed: Camera format not supported". StreamCraft now scales the picture down to fit and the camera starts normally. You don't need to change anything in OBS.

Vanilla players are opt-in (26.2 Fabric servers)

Letting players without StreamCraft join a 26.2 Fabric server is now off unless the server owner turns it on. To allow them, set allow_vanilla_clients=true in config/streamcraft/config.properties and restart the server. A server that was first started on 0.25.0 already has that setting written as true and keeps it; change it to false if you would rather every player needs StreamCraft. With it off, the StreamCraft Block shows as itself in your hotbar instead of a piece of paper.

Also fixed

  • If the server refreshed a block while its panel was open (for example right after you changed the disguise), an unsaved Light beam change could be lost. It is kept now.
  • Servers with a very large backlog of session reports could stop reporting them. Reports now go out in smaller batches and recover on their own.

Known issues

  • With the Photon shader pack the projector beam isn't drawn. Everything else works.
  • 26.2 Fabric servers that allow vanilla players (allow_vanilla_clients=true): players without StreamCraft see a stand-in with no picture, panel or voice, and players with StreamCraft see the StreamCraft Block as a paper icon in their hotbar and inventory (it still places the real block).
  • Windows, rare: the game closed once, straight after a screen share was stopped (1 of about 30 stops in testing).
  • macOS: the very first time you turn on your mic, macOS asks for permission and StreamCraft gives up before you answer. Allow it, then turn the mic on once more.
  • Two players sharing desktop audio at each other hear it loop. Turn Desktop audio off on one side.
  • On NeoForge 1.21.11, 26.1 and 26.2, voice runs without echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain. Use headphones.
  • On 1.21.9 to 1.21.11 and 26.x, Block Glow can still hide water behind it.
  • On 1.21.6 to 1.21.11 your own Display Block preview may show letterbox bars that viewers do not see.

Updating

All players and the server should be on 0.25.3. It connects to 0.25.0, but the settings and join fixes need both sides updated. Players on 0.21.x or older get the version-mismatch message.
