Description
π· Spiders Shoot Webs
Spiders are no longer just close-range hunters.
With this mod installed, spiders can now shoot web projectiles at fast-moving targets, forcing you to rethink how you fight β and how you escape.
What Changes?
When a spider is chasing you and you try to sprint away, it may:
- Stop briefly
- Lock onto its target
- Fire a web projectile
- Leave a cobweb where it lands
The cobweb can slow movement, block escape paths, or reshape the battlefield in tight caves and corridors.
Running blindly through dark tunnels is no longer always safe.
Difficulty-Aware Behavior
Spider web attacks scale with:
- World difficulty (Easy / Normal / Hard)
- Regional difficulty (local difficulty)
Higher difficulty means:
- Faster reaction time
- Shorter cooldown between shots
- Slightly longer effective range
- Lower movement threshold to trigger web attacks
The behavior intensifies naturally as the world becomes more dangerous, preserving vanilla progression logic.
Designed to Feel Vanilla+
- Web shots are situational β not constant spam
- Spiders still use melee and leap behavior
- The new ability adds tactical pressure without replacing vanilla combat
- Fully integrated with vanilla AI β no separate combat system
Spiders remain spiders β just more adaptive.
Configuration
The following options are configurable:
- Enable/disable web shooting for normal spiders
- Enable/disable web shooting for cave spiders
- Optional slowness effect when hit by a web projectile
This allows modpacks to fine-tune aggression levels or integrate the mechanic into harsher survival environments.
Compatibility
- Designed as a vanilla behavior extension
- Does not replace spider AI, only augments it
- Suitable for Vanilla+ and survival-focused modpacks
Survival just got stickier.
