Add a new tier of mineral and special mob variants

Description

Spectrite 2 is a complete reimagination of the original Spectrite mod for Forge. It hopes to greatly improve upon the balance of the original mod to make it more suitable for most modpacks and extend the game without completely breaking it.

Spectrite 2 extends Vanilla and modded content alike with a new exceptionally rare tier of material. Spectrite weapons can be charged with a right click toggle which will trigger a 'Chroma Blast' on hit at the cost of a cooldown and increased weapon damage. Tools will also have increased efficiency while charged, also with an increased damage cost.

Spectrite 2 Content

Virtually every mob, Vanilla and modded, has a slim chance of spawning as a 'Superchromatic' mob with boosted stats and a colorful new look. You can even boost your odds of finding them in the area by adding blocks of Spectrite to your beacon base (and yes, it's cumulative). If you happen upon a Superchromatic animal, there are also increased odds through breeding.

This mod focusses on modifying existing assets rather than adding its own, resulting in probably one of the most resource pack compatible content mods ever, so feel free to try it with your favorite texture pack.

There is no Forge version of this mod; it is available only for Fabric.

Special thanks to Pyrofab for the huge help with shaders. This mod wouldn't exist without him.

Known Issues

  • Superchromatic mob textures may generate incorrectly at random, having transitions where there shouldn't be (fixable by restarting the game)
  • Superchromatic Magma Cube texture always generates incorrectly for some reason
  • Various mobs from other mods do not generate a Superchromatic texture due to the implementation (a hue change shader will still be applied to the regular texture in most cases, such as Mythic Mounts entities, but this doesn't always work, like with Terrarian Slimes)
  • Spectrite item shaders apply incorrectly in inventory player model view
  • Charged Spectrite Trident is invisible in inventory player model view
  • Superchromatic mobs and Spectrite Trident (3rd person) appear invisible with a shader applied through Iris
