# SleepMods: The Dream & Paranoia Experience
## What exactly does the mod do?
SleepMods completely overhauls the vanilla Minecraft sleeping mechanic. Instead of simply skipping to morning when you click a bed, you are physically transported into one of several unique "Dream Dimensions" for 1 to 3 minutes. Furthermore, it introduces a terrifying "Paranoia" system that punishes you for staying awake too long, killing passive animals, or making poor choices in the dark.
## What mechanics does it add or change?
- **The Dream System**: Sleeping teleports you to a random dream. You might find yourself in a peaceful meadow, a terrifying dark nightmare, an endless ocean, a world made entirely of gold, or even an upside-down floating island. Time passes dynamically while you dream, allowing you to chain multiple dreams in a single night if you fall back asleep.
- **The Paranoia System**: Your actions affect your mental state. Killing friendly animals or staying in the dark raises your Paranoia percentage. High paranoia causes you to hallucinate terrifying sounds.
- **Sleep Paralysis**: If you attempt to sleep with over 70% Paranoia, there is a high chance you will suffer from Sleep Paralysis instead of a sweet dream. You will be trapped in a dark, claustrophobic box, unable to move, completely blind, while horrifying whispers and jumpscares flash across your screen.
- **Jumpscares & Hallucinations**: At extreme levels of paranoia (>80%), you will begin to see friendly animals decaying as zombies and skeletons. The UI will flash bloodshot eyes and terrifying mini-monsters at you.
## How does it affect gameplay?
Sleeping is no longer a trivial skip button. It is now an active gameplay event—sometimes rewarding, sometimes dangerous depending on your Paranoia. You are encouraged to manage your mental state. If Paranoia hits 100%, you will trigger a massive jumpscare and be forcefully jolted awake, unable to sleep until you calm down.
## Does it make the game easier?
In some ways, yes; in most ways, no.
It makes the game slightly easier if you are lucky enough to get a "Peaceful" dream, which grants you Regeneration, or an "Ocean/Sky" dream that gives you helpful buffs. However, it makes the game significantly harder if you let your Paranoia run wild, as Sleep Paralysis and Nightmares will actively apply Darkness, Slowness, and Nausea buffs to you.
## Does it make sleeping faster?
No, it actually makes sleeping a real-time event. You spend 1 to 3 minutes physically inside the dream dimension. When you wake up, time has advanced proportionally.
## Does it add new features?
Yes, it adds 8 entirely new dimensions (Sky, Ocean, Maze, Void, Peaceful, Nightmare, Upside-Down, Golden, and Paralysis), a completely custom Paranoia HUD with animated elements, dynamic visual hallucinations overlaying the screen and actual vanilla mobs, surface-safe spawning mechanics (Barrier generation to prevent void falling), and zero item-loss death protection within dreams.
## Specific Examples:
- "Now the player can physically explore their dreams, gathering unique status effects like Dolphin's Grace or Jump Boost before waking up to start the next day."
- "This is especially useful when you need to regenerate health safely, as the Peaceful dream will heal you and lower your paranoia before morning."
- "Unlike the vanilla bed, you cannot instantly skip the horrors of the night if your Paranoia is too high. You might find yourself trapped in Sleep Paralysis instead, unable to move while the darkness whispers to you."
