What's new

[0.5.2-alpha.1] — 1.21.11 (Fabric) — 2026-09-12

This update improves deeper slab-supported builds and fixes rendering differences with Sodium, Continuity, Better Block Entities, and Create Fly.

Changed

  • New placements can lower by up to three blocks without enabling the older deep-height option. Targeting, outlines, collision, and server placement checks cover the same range. Placements beyond that range are refused instead of creating a block that cannot be reached correctly. Existing stored heights stay unchanged; older blocks without a stored height retain their previous normal or opted-in depth limit.
  • Movement and support checks find deeply lowered blocks, including across an empty chunk section. This also applies when Lithium supplies the collision search. Lowered scaffolding's standing surface follows its stored height, while its interior remains open for climbing.

Fixed

  • Missing side faces beside lowered blocks now render correctly with Sodium. Exposed faces at height steps no longer disappear during Sodium's face-culling checks.
  • Corner shading on lowered block tops works with Sodium's ambient occlusion. Top faces lowered within their original cell receive shading at their drawn height.
  • Continuity top overlays stop at height steps. Connected grass overlays no longer spread onto a neighboring log's top face when the two tops are drawn at different heights.
  • Better Block Entities models align with lowered placements. Its static and animated rendering follow the saved height; chests, shulker boxes, and beds were checked.
  • Create Fly chests and shulker boxes sit at their saved height. Their animated parts share the corrected base position, so opening and closing no longer lifts them above the slab.
  • Smoke from extinguishing a candle appears at the candle's height, rather than above it at the original block height.
  • Chains under ordinary lowered beams follow the beam, along with decorations hanging below the chain. Chains under top and double slab ceilings retain their existing behavior.
  • Tall legacy stacks no longer sink into themselves after the sixth course. Full-height supports pass their height up the column without incorrectly consuming the lowering budget.

Upgrading an existing world

Back up your world before updating. Blocks with a saved placement height keep that height.

In builds made before placement heights were stored, a stack with more than six blocks in a lowered hole could have its upper courses drawn too low. Those upper courses now move back up into line with the rest of the column. This changes their rendered and targeted height; it does not delete or relocate blocks. Ordinary stacks were half a block too low, or a block and a half in worlds using the older deep-height option.
