Put torches on slabs! Hang lanterns from slabs! Place blocks on slabs! Stack blocks on those blocks on those slabs! Slabbed makes it work! Slabbed!!!

What's new
Fixed: chains hanging under a lowered block now follow it down properly! Before this fix, the chain stayed at its normal height while the lantern on the same chain followed the block down, so a lowered beam looked like it was sinking into its own chain. Now the whole hanging assembly moves together. Chains under lowered slabs aren't affected - they keep their dedicated flush look.
