Update 1.9.0: New spider forms have been released!
Spider form is a form that features the use of "silk projectile" to modify terrain and contain enemies, and has a special "evolution" way.

Description
An unknown magical force has altered your body… When the Cursed Moon rises, certain changes begin to manifest within you.
Shape Shifter Curse is a mod that focuses on gradually transforming into different forms based on vanilla creatures under the influence of the "Cursed Moon" and "Instincts" mechanics, gaining their unique abilities and drawbacks - each form with independent models and (potential) special animations!

Add your own ideas - while there are some limitations, you can customize your own forms through data packs + resource packs, including models, unique abilities, instinct changes, and description texts.

How Do I Begin?
When players first join a world, they will receive the Book of Shape Shifter item - open it and follow the guidance in the achievements page.
Hint: Look for creatures emitting enchantment effects, and collect special drops from creatures during the Cursed Moon event.

Recommended Mods
- First-person Model: while not required for core functionality, it enables proper first-person models and animations for each form, significantly enhancing immersion.
- Rich Translatable Text: you can install this mod to display rich colored text in Book of Shape Shifter.
- Mod Menu: you can conveniently modify the configuration of the mod within the game.
- Leawind's Third Person: Third-person view is the best way to experience various form models and animations. The algorithm used by Leawind's Third Person mod allows comfortable and accurate aiming to any direction in third-person view, just like in first-person view, while achieving a cinematic feel.
Potentially Incompatible Mods
Mods that modify character animations (such as AnimationOverhaul, Emotecraft) may be incompatible. They might not cause logical conflicts, but using them together may break this mod's animations and models.

Mods that modify combat mechanics (like BetterCombat) might cause issues with form abilities related to combat.
Server player optimization mods such as Too Many Players have known issues that can break form animations.

FAQ:
My character skin got replaced?
After enabling mod content, player skins will be replaced by the mod's built-in skin (aka: the shifter). This is for artistic consistency of form models and respecting other players' characters.
You can retain your own skin by using the in-game command: /shape-shifter-curse keep_original_skin true
Does it work on servers?
Yes!
After version 1.0.5, the mod has achieved full server compatibility. If you encounter any problems, please submit an issue report.
I don't like First-person Model's first-person view
After version 1.0.62, form models can display correctly without FirstPerson mod(though we still recommend FirstPerson mod for enhanced immersion).
