The Cursed Number mod adds 100+ events, one new mechanics, and one item to the game. The mod is heavily inspired by SCP-048 from the SCP Foundation Universe.
SCP-048 is nothing. It was decided not to assign this designation because anything assigned the designation SCP-048 begins to attract an abnormal amount of misfortune, disasters, and unlikely accidents.

SCP-048 | The Cursed SCP Number
SCP-048 is nothing. It was decided not to assign this designation because anything assigned the designation SCP-048 begins to attract an abnormal amount of misfortune, disasters, and unlikely accidents.
This mod brings that curse directly into your Minecraft world.
Core Mechanic
Anything renamed SCP-048 will begin to attract catastrophic events.
After a random amount of time, a disaster will occur.
The maximum time before an event happens can be configured with the gamerule:
Scp048EventMaxTime(value in ticks)
There are more than 110 possible events affecting both entities and items.
Possible events include:
- sudden diseases
- gas leaks
- landslides
- earthquakes
- tornadoes
- fires
- and many other unpredictable disasters or unexpected event
Entities near SCP-048 may also become victims of the event.
If SCP-048 survives the disaster, it may seem like the curse has paused… but sooner or later it will strike again.
The curse does not appear to end until SCP-048 dies or is removed.
Designation
Players can designate themselves or other players as SCP-048 using name tags renamed “SCP-048.”
- Shift + right-click yourself with the tag → you become SCP-048
- Right-click another player → they become SCP-048
Once designated, the target begins attracting the curse’s events.
Escaping the curse
There are only two guaranteed ways to stop the curse:
- Die
- Change the name of the entity or item
As long as the name remains SCP-048, the disasters will continue.
But maybe someone will be good enough to be able to break the curse.
Life of SCP-048
Being SCP-048 means living in constant danger.
Sleeping, opening a chest, using a furnace, moving, eating, breathing, jumping, or changing dimension…
any action might be the last one.
Drop of SCP-048
When an entity designated SCP-048 dies, it drops:
- the SCP-048 name tag
- the SCP-048 document

Foundation Event
Periodically, the SCP Foundation will attempt to assign the SCP-048 designation to a new anomaly.
The default time is 15 real minutes.
The Foundation will select one of this category :
- players in the server
- items in player inventories
- entities near players
The interval can be configured using:
Scp048AssignmentCooldownDefault value:
18000 ticks (15 minutes)Success chance
Each attempt has a 10% chance of success.
If successful:- a new SCP-048 will be designated
- the Foundation will announce it using a loudspeaker audio message heard by all players.
If the attempt fails:
a chat message will appear stating that the Foundation is actively searching for a new SCP-048 to disprove these superstitions.
The chance can be modified using:

To disable the Foundation event completely:
