Are you tired of the modern armor calculation, where high-damage attacks make your endgame armor feel like paper due to diminishing returns? Retro Armor Cap is designed to fix exactly that, while adding massive depth to your combat system.
This mod allows you to restore the Old School (Linear) Armor Mechanics, where every point of armor provides a fixed percentage of damage reduction, regardless of how strong the incoming hit is.
Whether you want to recreate the combat feel of older versions, give mobs terrifying defensive capabilities, introduce armor penetration to weapons, or simply want to feel like a true tank in the latest updates, this mod gives you absolute control over the damage calculation.
✨ Key Features
⚔️ Mechanics Override (The Core)
- Old vs. New: Choose between the modern Vanilla mechanic (with toughness) or the Retro Linear Mechanic.
- Linear Calculation: By default, in Retro mode, 1 Armor Point = 4% Damage Reduction. (e.g., 20 Armor points = 80% flat reduction, even against massive boss attacks!)
- Mob Support: Not just for players! You can configure non-player entities (mobs, bosses) to utilize the Retro Mechanics, making PvE combat significantly more challenging.
🗡️ Combat Depth: Armor Penetration
- Pierce Defenses: Define specific weapons to have flat Armor Penetration values. A heavy axe can be configured to ignore 4 points of the target's armor, adding a rich tactical layer to both PvP and PvE!
➕ Bonus Systems (Highly Configurable)
- Item & Curios Bonuses: Define specific items (held, worn armor, or Curios accessories) that grant extra pure damage reduction. Great for RPG modpacks (e.g., equipping a 'Cross Necklace' from the Artifacts mod grants +5% permanent resistance).
- Advancement Bonuses: Reward progression! Grant permanent damage reduction to players who complete specific advancements.
⚖️ Balance & God Tier
- Global Hard Cap: Set a strict limit on total physical damage reduction (Default: 88%) to keep standard survival balanced.
- God Tier Armor Threshold: Playing insane modpacks like Avaritia or Draconic Evolution? If an armor's value is astronomically high, it can bypass the global cap and achieve 100% Absolute Physical Immunity. You configure exactly how much armor is needed to become a god!
🚀 Supreme Compatibility & Performance
- Smart Calculation Skip: This mod perfectly respects other mods' mechanics. If a special item (like Avaritia's Infinity Armor or Mekanism's MekaSuit) already nullifies incoming damage to 0 before this mod's turn, Retro Armor Cap intelligently skips all its calculations. This ensures flawless compatibility with invincible mechanics and saves server performance!
🛠️ Optional Tweaks
- Vanilla Netherite Buff: Optionally tweak Netherite Chestplates and Leggings to provide +1 armor point each, making the upgrade from Diamond truly worth it.
💻 Commands
/testdamage <amount>- (Requires OP/Cheats)
- Simulates a complete damage calculation event (Base Mechanics + Penetration + Toughness + Bonuses + Cap) and shows you exactly how much damage you would take and why. The ultimate tool for testing your modpack's balance!

⚔️ 机制重写 (战斗核心)
- 新旧切换: 你可以在原版机制(依赖韧性)和 复古线性机制 之间自由切换。
