What's new
RTM 3.0
New Industrial Blast Furnace
- Added a new Industrial Blast Furnace for large-scale iron and steel production.
- Uses coke, pressurized hot blast, optional oxygen enrichment, limestone, and supplied heat.
- Produces recoverable Blast Furnace Gas, slag, and other realistic byproducts instead of simply consuming everything.
- Hotter blast air and oxygen enrichment can improve furnace performance.
- The previous small Blast Furnace is now the Metallurgical Furnace and remains useful for smaller-scale metallurgy and alloy production.
Power & Steam
- Rebalanced generator output, internal buffering, fuel use, and progression.
- Stirling generators now behave as heat engines instead of oversized batteries, with 10 kW and 40 kW default outputs.
- Reworked the small Steam Turbine into a 75 kW precision turbine instead of an overpowered early-game engine.
- Steam equipment now has clearer steam-grade limits across ordinary, hot, superhot, and ultrahot steam.
- Generator recipes now use more realistic mechanical, pressure, heat-transfer, winding, piston, and turbine components instead of arbitrary rare-material filler.
- Improved Diesel, industrial piston, gas turbine, turboshaft, solar, geothermal, RTG, and several other generator behaviors.
- The Wood Generator remains deprecated from normal progression.
Chemistry & Processing
- Major chemistry rebalance across acids, alkalis, ammonia, methanol, polymers, coolants, mineral processing, nuclear materials, water treatment, and other industrial chains.
- Chemical processes now conserve substantially more of their actual inputs, outputs, water, gases, residues, and reusable process fluids.
- Removed many old recipes that deleted materials or produced unsupported byproducts from nowhere.
- Chemical machines can retain partial process progress and fractional outputs instead of losing work between batches.
- Chemical Reactors now support up to 4 item inputs, 4 fluid inputs, 4 item outputs, and 4 fluid outputs.
- Chemical Reactor heating requirements are now handled through their actual powered operation rather than requiring nonexistent heater placement.
- Machines designed for external heating still require a deliberate heater interface.
Fluids & Piping
- Standard fluid ducts can now carry up to four configured fluids through the same line.
- Fluid identifiers can add or remove individual allowed fluids.
- Single-fluid branches can still filter a shared trunk.
- Existing single-fluid pipe setups remain compatible.
- Fixed several cases where changing fluid identifiers could destroy stored fluid.
Boilers, Air & Industrial Heat
- Boilers can now properly handle their shared heating processes, including blast-air heating and petroleum/coolant duties.
- Industrial Boilers can use either their internal burner or qualified external heat where appropriate.
- Added selectable ordinary-steam output to the Industrial Boiler alongside its existing hotter steam output.
- Increased compressor capacity for large-scale air processing.
- Improved atmospheric collection, compression, decompression, air separation, and isotope processing.
- Blast Furnace air grades now behave consistently and use one selected blast grade at a time with separate oxygen enrichment.
Machine Progression & Recipes
- Reworked many machine recipes around the equipment they physically represent: vessels, pumps, piping, drives, heat exchangers, pressure hardware, controls, rotors, and structural components.
- Updated construction for boilers, presses, rotary furnaces, mixers, crackers, crystallizers, air-processing equipment, casting equipment, and other industrial machines.
- Removed several arbitrary or dependency-heavy ingredients that did not fit the machine being built.
- Restored and corrected lubricant production from refinery products.
- Fixed numerous material-processing inconsistencies involving steel, stainless steel, bronze, solder, graphite, thermite, metal powders, nuggets, ores, and intermediate forms.
Machine Information & NEI
- Expanded machine tooltips and GUI information with installed power, efficiency, cooling, operating requirements, and current machine state.
- Added or improved NEI support for:
- Blast Furnace
- Compressors
- Atmospheric processing
- Air separation
- Isotope separation
- Boilers
- Electrolysis
- Chemical processing
- Fuel-fired furnaces
- Fixed missing or misleading gauges, recipe pages, quantities, utility displays, and fractional outputs.
- Fixed the Cryogenic Distillation NEI page missing its background.
- Compressor pressure and operating-mode controls are now clearer and no longer overlap inventory controls.
Materials & Physical Accounting
- Expanded RealSim's material accounting so more recipes track actual mass, fuel value, process energy, and recoverable byproducts.
- Improved support for different material forms such as powders, nuggets, ores, polymers, fuels, and intermediate compounds.
- Corrected numerous recipes that duplicated, deleted, or incorrectly substituted materials.
- Solid fuels are now identified by their actual material role instead of simply treating anything with stored energy as valid fuel.
Fixes
- Fixed Electrolyser coproduct and Dairy condensate displays.
- Fixed mixed Electrolyser power budgeting.
- Fixed machines losing partial paid heating or processing work.
- Fixed several over-capacity inventories and energy buffers incorrectly deleting stored resources.
- Fixed generator export and storage edge cases.
- Fixed Compressor mode synchronization.
- Fixed various invalid recipe ingredients, machine recipe displays, fluid handling issues, and registration errors.
