What's new
RTM 3.0
RTM 3.0 is a major systems update focused on performance, industrial balance, petroleum processing, and power generation.
Performance
- Reworked large nuclear explosions to spread terrain destruction, ignition, fallout, and related work across server ticks instead of doing everything at once.
- Added a shared explosion work scheduler with a default 5 ms/tick budget.
- Added bounded terrain workers, controlled chunk loading, compact destruction masks, resumable save state, and capped fallout-collapse spawning.
- Optimized mushroom clouds with default limits of 4,096 cloudlets per cloud and 8,192 total, plus cached rendering and distance-based thinning.
Industrial and Power Balance
- Introduced the first major RealSim physical-accounting systems for mass, fuel energy, heat, electrical work, and machine ratings.
- Rebalanced industrial consumers so large machines require appropriately larger power infrastructure.
- Starter Stirling now outputs 10 kW and Heavy Stirling 40 kW.
- Large Arc Furnace processing now uses mass-based work and installed power instead of the old exponential upgrade behavior.
- Deprecated the old wood generator.
Petroleum Processing
- Rebuilt the existing refinery chain around mass-based processing instead of arbitrary volume conversions.
- Added explicit process heat, electrical auxiliaries, feed reservation, coproduct accounting, and realistic throughput ceilings.
- Refining, cracking, hydrotreating, reforming, coking, and related systems now share the same physical ledger.
- Custom petroleum recipes can no longer bypass the accounting system with arbitrary conversions.
Steam and Fossil Power
- Reworked boilers, steam engines, turbines, condensers, heat exchangers, compressors, and related equipment around consistent thermal and electrical accounting.
- Gas turbines now separate electrical output from recoverable exhaust heat.
- The gas turbine is rated at 3 MWe at 30% fuel-to-electric efficiency.
- Flares now function as disposal equipment instead of hidden generators.
- Added more consistent condensate return, steam loss, makeup-water, heat-rejection, and overpressure behavior.
Fluids and Machine Information
- Normalized fluid storage, including 20 L portable containers, 200 L drums, and larger role-based machine tanks.
- Rebalanced groundwater extraction to industrial-scale production rates.
- Expanded GUI, tooltip, and NEI information for machine power, efficiency, cooling, fluids, temperature, fuel energy, and operating conditions.
X3030 Large Shredder
- Restored the historical X3030 Large Shredder model as a decorative block using its original recovered assets.
- It is intentionally nonfunctional and has no processing, power, inventory, or multiblock behavior.
RTM 3.0 makes HBM's existing industrial sandbox faster, more coherent, and much better balanced for large factories.
