Bring Bruce, the iconic shark from Raft, into Minecraft!

Raft Shark adds a persistent shark threat to your ocean adventures, inspired by the survival mechanics of Raft. Whenever a vanilla Minecraft boat is placed, Bruce will emerge and begin circling it, patiently waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Whether you're exploring distant islands or simply crossing the ocean, you're never truly safe.

Features

Adds Bruce, the shark from Raft, to Minecraft.
Highly configurable behavior.
By default, Bruce uses the Elder Guardian entity, allowing the mod to work in pure vanilla Minecraft.
Supports replacing Bruce with any entity through the configuration.
Attacks players who enter the water near the boat.
Periodically attacks boats while players are riding them.
Can be scared away by dealing enough damage or landing a configurable number of hits.
If not scared away in time, Bruce will destroy the boat.
Respawns automatically after a configurable delay when killed.
Multiplayer-friendly: only one Bruce is spawned per boat and area.
Includes difficulty presets inspired by Raft's difficulty settings.
Can automatically scale with the current Minecraft world difficulty.

Entity Customization

Raft Shark is designed to work without requiring any additional mods, but it becomes even better when combined with creature mods.

By default, Bruce is represented by an Elder Guardian. However, you can configure any entity to act as the shark by editing the controlledEntityType setting.

For example, if you have Alex's Mobs installed, you can set:

alexsmobs:hammerhead_shark

and Bruce will become an actual shark swimming around your boat.

This makes it possible to fully customize the experience and integrate the mod with your favorite creature mods.

How It Works

When a player places a vanilla Minecraft boat, Bruce begins patrolling around it.

While circling the boat, Bruce may:

Attack nearby players who enter the water.
Attempt to bite and damage the boat.
Continue stalking the boat.

To protect your boat, fight back and drive Bruce away before he manages to destroy it.

If ignored for too long, the shark will eventually break the boat, leaving you stranded in the water.

Optional Valkyrien Skies Support

Install the optional Valkyrien Skies addon:

Raft Shark – Valkyrien Skies Compatibility

The compatibility addon extends Raft Shark to work with Valkyrien Skies ships and rafts.

Instead of tracking vanilla boats, Bruce will use your Valkyrien Skies vessel as its target. The overall gameplay remains the same, but attacks become much more immersive: Bruce will target individual blocks of the ship and, if not driven away in time, will eventually destroy them.

Please note: this addon is currently under development.

Custom loot drops when Bruce is killed.
Sound effects for shark attacks against players.
Sound effects for shark attacks against boats.
Full Valkyrien Skies compatibility support.
Fixes for situations where Bruce may stop moving when a boat is close to land or outside suitable ocean areas.

Configuration

Most aspects of the mod can be configured, including:

Time before Bruce destroys a boat.
Damage required to scare him away.
Number of hits required to scare him away.
Respawn delay after death.
Entity used as Bruce.

This allows server owners and modpack creators to tailor the experience to their preferred difficulty level.

Difficulty Presets

Raft Shark includes several difficulty presets inspired by the difficulty settings from Raft.

You can quickly switch between preset configurations that replicate the feel of Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard gameplay from Raft, without having to manually adjust every setting.

For players who prefer a more integrated Minecraft experience, the mod can also automatically adapt its behavior to the current Minecraft world difficulty, ensuring that Bruce becomes more or less dangerous depending on whether the world is set to Peaceful, Easy, Normal, or Hard.

Of course, every value remains fully configurable, allowing you to create your own custom difficulty if desired.
