Texture flicker repair — 0.11.19
Polygon polish in 0.11.19
The repair now handles convex coplanar polygons, including angled barrel and tank faces missed by the earlier rectangle pass. It trimmed 44 additional overlapping opaque faces across seven meshes. Visible fragments retain the original triangle UV interpolation, winding and normals; opposite-facing surfaces such as two-sided leaves remain intact. Model envelopes match 0.11.18 exactly, and a second repair pass makes no changes.
Native asset checks now validate all 60 polygon meshes and 11,519 quads for
nonempty material groups, vertex/UV dimensions, finite values and unit normals.
Build and dedicated-server suites passed; packaged model audits also passed.
Log: build/polygon-polish-runtime.log.
Test barrel lids, water/fuel tanks and the biorefiner from shallow angles while turning and sailing. Check that their texture patches remain stable and their fills stay aligned. Visual confirmation is still pending; intersecting curved surfaces in different planes and external resource-pack models remain outside the coplanar clipping check.
Original repair in 0.11.18
The asset audit found overlapping faces occupying the same plane in generated cuboid models and axis-aligned portions of custom machine meshes. Drawing both surfaces can produce z-fighting: patches alternate as the camera moves. Some generated face UVs also extended outside their 0–16 atlas sprite area, which could sample nearby textures instead of the intended material.
Changes
- Earlier faces are trimmed behind later opaque coplanar faces. Visible rectangles retain interpolated UVs and their original material. This avoids pushing thousands of surfaces outward or changing collision geometry.
- Atlas UV ranges are translated into their sprite, or rescaled if the span is larger than the sprite. Face direction and cropping follow the pinned native Minecraft 26.3 FaceBakery orientation.
- The same rectangle repair handles the flat portions of 15 polygon machine meshes, including purification, smelting, generators, pipes and engine parts. Curved/rotated geometry and transparent texture layering are retained.
- Reinforcement edging sits just outside the wood sides and its four bands no longer overlap at their ends. No colliders are added or changed.
- The complete model generator runs the surface repair as its final stage. Native model checks now reject nonfinite or out-of-range atlas UVs.
The repair corrected 10,052 face UV ranges and clipped 7,398 overlapping cuboid faces plus 79 rectangular machine-mesh faces. Model envelopes were compared against 0.11.17 and preserved. Applying the repair again makes no changes. The audit covers opaque coplanar rectangles; arbitrary overlapping curved polygons and external resource-pack models are outside that check.
Starter anchor and grill — 0.11.30
Both new stations can be crafted before research and placed on a supported raft foundation. The existing reusable metal anchor and grill remain available.
Disposable Stone Anchor
Total cost: four cobblestone, four string, two planks and one salvage scrap. The total exceeds nine ingredients, so use two ordinary 3×3 crafting recipes.
First craft a Stone Anchor Bundle:
C S C
S S
C S C
C = cobblestone; S = string. Then craft the anchor:
P X P
B
P = any planks; X = salvage scrap; B = Stone Anchor Bundle. Floating ocean crates and barrels now have a chance to contain cobblestone, with two to four stones per selected loot entry.
Place the anchor, open its controls and select Lower. This stops the raft and its associated debris drift. The deployed state survives saving and rejoining. Select Release & discard to resume sailing: the anchor disappears permanently. A deployed anchor removed with the building hammer or detached by foundation damage does not drop a reusable anchor. An unused placed anchor can be recovered.
Basic Food Grill
Craft in a 3×3 table:
P X P
P S P
X
P = any planks; X = salvage scrap; S = string. Total: four planks, two salvage scrap and one string.
Insert raw food in the food slot and planks or another accepted fuel in the fuel slot. Collect cooked food from the result slot. This uses loaded campfire cooking recipes, needs no water or research, and supports the grill speed configuration. It cooks food; use the separate smelter for ores. JEI shows its crafting recipe, food recipes, station catalyst and menu recipe link.
Local test checklist
- Install 0.11.30 on all clients and the server; no new world is needed.
- Craft both stations before research using the recipes above.
- Lower the anchor while moving: the raft and associated debris should stop.
- Save/rejoin while anchored, then release: the raft moves and the anchor is gone.
- Try the building hammer on a lowered anchor: it must not return an anchor item.
- Collect floating crates/barrels and check for occasional cobblestone loot.
- Cook a fish with plank fuel; check the output, placement preview and JEI links.
Story remains open-ended; milestone 11 continues.
Verification
Build and native dedicated-server checks passed, including 259,199 crafting, 666 research and 848 survival assertions. New tests cover anchor deployment, saved state, consumption and stale-menu reuse; unfueled food preservation, food/ore filtering and successful fish cooking; and cobblestone loot from both floating container types. All loaded 1,399 crafting recipes were audited. Packaged model, surface, translation and research audits also passed. In-game client visuals and cooperative play still need the local tests above.
Starter survival fixes — 0.11.29
The starter water purifier and first smelter now have crafting paths that do not require metal fittings, a furnace or previously fired bricks.
Basic water purifier
Craft in either a 2×2 or 3×3 grid, with no research required:
P L
C P
P = any planks; L = drift leaf; C = any bindings-tag item (cordage or string). Place it on a supported raft foundation. Pour seawater from a saltwater cup, put planks or another accepted fuel in its fuel slot, and collect the fresh water with an empty cup. You can also exchange cups through its menu. A cup takes 20 seconds at default processing speed. Pouring returns the empty cup.
The existing purifier is now named Advanced Water Purifier. It retains its ID, metal-fitting recipe, saved inventory, research requirement and ten-second cup processing. The electric purifier remains the later powered upgrade.
Sun-drying bricks
Craft a Sun-Drying Rack without research:
P S
S P
P = planks; S = stick. Place the rack outdoors on a raft foundation and insert Damp Bricks into its input slot. Two clay balls and one sand craft two damp bricks.
One damp brick becomes one Dry Brick after 150 seconds (2½ minutes) of sunlight at default processing speed. Night, rain, solid overhead blocks and raft roofs pause drying without consuming the brick or resetting progress. The rack needs no fuel or water. A blocked output pauses processing; progress and inventory survive saving/rejoining. A stack dries one brick at a time. Bricks held in your inventory or dropped as loose item entities do not dry automatically.
Recipes are data-driven: dry_brick.json controls the duration. The existing
survival.processingSpeed setting also affects drying and purification.
First smelter
At the research table, study one dry brick and one clay ball, then explicitly learn Coastal smelter. The existing brick material accepts either dry or fired bricks; old learned research is preserved.
Craft at a 3×3 table:
D D D
D D
P D P
D = Dry Brick; P = planks. Total: six dry bricks and two planks. No metal fittings are required. Research consumes one sample brick in addition to the six needed for crafting. Existing fired-brick recipes remain available for other uses.
Local test checklist
Install 0.11.29 on every client and the server; no new world is needed. Restart a running development client after rebuilding.
- Before research, craft and place the basic purifier and drying rack.
- Purify seawater with plank fuel; verify that cups are returned and fresh water is collected without losing items.
- Dry a brick in clear daylight. Check that rain, night and a roof pause it.
- Save and rejoin during drying; its progress should remain.
- Study a dry brick and clay, learn the smelter project, and craft the smelter from six dry bricks and two planks.
- Check the two new machine categories in JEI and the new placement previews.
Story remains open-ended; milestone 11 continues.
Verification
The build and native dedicated-server bootstrap passed, including 258,540 combined crafting assertions, 666 research assertions and 726 survival assertions. Starter regressions cover cup returns, exact default drying time, weather/cover pauses, saved progress, full output handling and smelter research using dry bricks. Packaged recipe, research, localization and model audits passed. All 543 model files and 64 mesh files passed surface checks; existing model envelopes are preserved. Client visuals, JEI interaction and cooperative play still need the local checks above.
