Productive Frogs 2.0.0-alpha.1
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
v2.0.0-alpha.1 - 2026-07-05 - Leap Forward
Productive Frogs 2.0 - the first release of the new line. The mod moves to Minecraft 26.1 (NeoForge) as a standalone mod, rebuilt around one idea: frogs should eat the real thing. This is an alpha: the core loop is complete and tested, but expect rough edges, balance passes, and additions before stable. The Minecraft 1.21.1 releases (v1.24.x) remain available and supported with fixes; 1.x worlds cannot migrate (different Minecraft version).
The mob-drop redesign
- Predator frogs hunt real mobs. Breed two different frog species and you can get a predator frog - it ignores slimes and hunts actual mobs, dropping their genuine kill loot (counted as player kills, so rare drops work; the Bounty stat adds Looting). Cross two predators into an Apex Frog, the top of the food chain.
- Farm any mob through the milk loop. Capture a mob's essence as Mob Slurry with the Slurry Press, bucket or pipe it like milk, and spawn that mob from a Basin for your predators to hunt. The Ender Net captures and relocates mobs whole.
- Bottled experience. Kills pay Liquid Experience - a real fluid (20 mB per XP point) you can tank, pipe, and drink back.
- Four boss altars. The Wither, the Ender Dragon, the Warden, and the Elder Guardian each get a buildable arena: construct the structure, install an Apex Frog in the wall-mounted Hatch with an Entity Net, feed it the boss's own trophies as fuel, and it summons and harvests the boss for raw boss drops and Liquid Experience - no fight, fully automatable by pipe.
- Mob-derived slime variants are retired. Every variant that stood in for a mob's kill loot is removed: blaze rod, bone, breeze rod, ender pearl, feather, ghast tear, glow ink sac, gunpowder, ink sac, leather, magma cream, nautilus shell, phantom membrane, prismarine crystals, rotten flesh, shulker shell, string, and the boss tier (nether star, dragon's breath, dragon egg, wither skeleton skull). Those resources now come from predation and the altars. Kept on purpose: every ore, block, plant, and fluid variant, plus armadillo scute, turtle scute, and honeycomb (husbandry resources predation cannot supply). The Froglight Cleaver now crafts from a raw Nether Star and Dragon Egg - both renewable through the altars.
- The catalyst altars are retired. The four catalyst blocks, the six-face
spawn gate, and toxic boss milk are gone - the boss altars replaced that
whole loop. The
variants.bossVariantsEnabledconfig folds into theboss.enabledmaster. - Predation milestones in the Advancements tab: A New Appetite (first predator bred), Apex of the Food Chain (first Apex), Free-Range Farming (first mob devoured), and Boss on the Menu (first altar summon completed).
Carried over and simplified
- Everything else made the jump: the six species, the data-driven variant roster, all the appliances (Milker, Churn, Spawnery, Crucible, Casting Mold), the Terrarium, frog stat breeding, milk catalysts, Brewed Froglights, the Equivalence lane, Frog Legs, and the fairy-tale items.
- Slime Milk is one fluid again. Instead of a separate fluid per variant, Slime Milk now remembers its variant on the fluid itself - it survives every bucket, tank, and pipe round-trip on this Minecraft version's new fluid API, with far fewer registered fluids cluttering JEI.
- Molten metal is first-party. The Crucible melts metal Froglights into
Productive Frogs' own molten fluids and the Casting Mold casts them back;
the recipes key on the standard
c:molten_<metal>tags for interop. - JEI coverage for the predation chain: Mob Slurry Buckets show one entry per mob, and the Slurry Press, both Basins, the Ender Net, Liquid Experience, and the four altar Hatches all have info pages.
Known alpha gaps
- Integrations ship as JEI + Jade only. Support for other mods (metals, crystals, processors, the Curios charm slot) returns closer to stable, as those mods settle on this Minecraft version.
- No in-game guide book yet. The guide engine the 1.x book used has no build for this Minecraft version; the guide returns closer to stable.
- Placing a component-carrying fluid directly with a pipe's world-placer bypasses the bucket and loses the variant identity - a documented engine limitation; Productive Frogs' own machines are unaffected.
