Guano has decay mechanic:

Guano balls dropped by mobs will form a pile but will be tagged to decay

Mob-dropped guano will not build layers up to a full block, but will stop at 7 layers

When a decayable pile receives a random tick, one layer will decay

If a decayable pile is added to by a player (or Guano Golem), it will become non-decayable.
