What's new
v0.0.0-beta.5 - Mirror mask follows the screen shape
Bug-fix beta for Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge 21.1.249. The top of the mirror is no longer sliced into an arch, which was most visible on the pause menu.
Fix
- The top of the mirror was still rounded, cutting the topmost button. The crop was not to blame — that was fixed in beta.4 — but the shape of the soft mask was: it was a circle inscribed in the square 256×256 mirror target. With a roughly 2:1 panel such as the pause menu, the top centre falls outside the circle, so it got sheared off into an arch. The mask is now a rounded rectangle that follows the screen's real panel rectangle. The vertical blur shader takes a new
contentRectuniform holding that rectangle in target pixels, computed in Java from the same rect the crop already uses. The signed distance is negative inside the panel, so no panel pixel is ever faded: the 6 px feather only softens the empty margin around it and rounds the corners. The pause menu improves most, becausePauseScreenis not anAbstractContainerScreen— the mask then falls back to the full target and switches itself off, leaving a clean rectangular crop with a straight top edge.
Technical Changes
dynamicGuiSizeRadiusInPixelsToShowchanges meaning: it was the circle radius (default 112) and is now the corner rounding in pixels (default 16). The range and the-1disable switch are unchanged. Server owners who left it at 112 will get much subtler corners — that is the intended result, but worth knowing.
Notes
If the uniform is ever unavailable the mask falls back to the full target, so it degrades rather than failing.
Beta. The Java side is verified by a clean build. The GLSL itself could not be validated — shaders only compile when the game loads them, and noglslangValidatoris available here. If the mirror comes out black or corrupted, the likeliest cause is a shader compile error, which the log reports asERROR compiling shader.
