Vanilla villagers die at night. Not to raids — to whatever spawns in the dark between their houses.
SY Village answers that with light, and then keeps going.
🔔 Opt in, one click
Shift-right-click a village bell to register it. Nothing else in your world changes: unregistered villages run pure vanilla and cost nothing. You decide which village becomes a settlement.
💡 First, the streets are lit
A registered settlement plans a town on a fixed grid around its bell and puts a lamp post at every block corner and centre, as far as the ground can be walked to. Mobs stop spawning inside. That alone is the whole promise; everything below is built on top of it.
🏘️ Then it grows — when somebody takes the job
Craft a Village Head's Table and place it. A spare villager takes the job, exactly as with any vanilla workstation, and from then on the settlement lays roads and builds houses and fields, block by block while you watch. Houses when there are more villagers than beds; fields otherwise. Both numbers are vanilla's own — nothing is simulated.
🏰 Then it defends itself
The village head sells a Lord's Seal. With it you craft the Lord's Table; a villager takes that job, and the settlement raises a rampart round the town with four gatehouses on the bell's own roads and a watchtower on each corner — walkway, parapets, stairs, lanterns. The gates have fence gates you may leave open or shut. The lord sells a Golem's Heart, which is what a Guardian Statue needs: a block that raises one iron golem and raises another when it dies.
📜 And it sends out settlers
The village head also sells a Freeman's Charter - a villager on paper. Use it on the ground and a villager steps off it, dressed for the biome. It is for the next village: ring a bell somewhere empty, and the charter is the family that moves there to take the head's job. Pricey, and only a couple per head - population is still something you wait for.
🌍 It builds in the biome's materials
Sandstone in the desert, spruce in the taiga. The palette is chosen once, where the bell stands.
🤝 It builds with you, not instead of you
The settlement never reshapes the land. A lot that is not level is left alone until you level it; a road stops at water, ice or a cliff and picks up again when you fill or bridge it; a gatehouse whose doorstep is uneven waits for you. Nothing is silent about this: /placitum build and a shift-click on any bell tell you, lot by lot, exactly why nothing is happening and what you could do about it. Knock down a lamp post and it stays down; a missing stretch of road is relaid.
🧱 Shapes you can change without code
The gatehouse and the tower are structure-block saves. Build a better one in creative, save it, drop the .nbt in the data pack, and the settlement builds yours.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.2
- NeoForge (see the file's listed version)
- Java 25
- No other mods required. Works on dedicated servers.
Before you uninstall
Everything the settlement built is ordinary blocks and stays standing. The two workstations and the statue are the only blocks this mod adds; break them first if you want a clean world.
