Many thanks to DigletTheMiner aka Diglets Channel for the review of my mod!
Shrove Tuesday is no longer with us, but you can still create and celebrate the joy of pancakes in Minecraft!
Pancaked Retribution is a mod I started on, would you have it, Pancake Day. It adds 7 types of pan, 2 (CURRENTLY) creative exclusive. Every single pan has unique stats and even more pans and pancakes are planned to be incorporated into the mod at a later date, as well as possible support for other mods.
But wait! This explaining is good and all, but how do you actually make and bake this pancakes? Simple!
Start by making a pan, there are 5 currently available in the mod to craft in Survival, and two WIP ones that will eventually add support to another of my mods that's in development.
The first, and most basic, type of pan is the regular pan. Simply make a pan shape out of iron ingots, like so:

And then you've got it!
But this cook's a bit slowly... So why not enhance it's speed? Simply make a pan shape out of gold, and replace the middle ingot with an iron pan!

Now you have a golden pan. This cooks faster than a regular pan, but it will burn much quicker...
So how can we solve this? By encasing the pan in a valuable gem, of course! The recipe is exactly the same as making a golden pan, but instead of golden ingots you use diamond gems and of course you use the gold pan you just made instead of the iron pan.

This improved frying pan not only cooks faster than the iron and gold pans, but also improves the time it takes to burn a pancake. It's not as good as iron's, sadly, but it's definitely worth the investment.

Now that we have this ever so fancy pan, we can either leave it as it is or make a huge step forward in speed, but unfortunately time to burn a pancake as well. Use the same recipe we used to get gold and diamond pans, but use a diamond pan and for the material, use netherrack.
This utensil is powered by the sheer eternal hellfire of the Nether. It cooks extremely quickly, but also burns quickly too. But it's just the thing if you need to whip up some pancakes in the last second.
If that's not your cup of tea, find a stronghold. Our last pan has a unique crafting recipe that utilizes black holes and space and... End Rocks. Simply place two diagonal iron ingots and three endstone blocks in a pan shape (Obviously) and you'll get the End pan. This pan has the same speed as iron, but takes a significantly longer time to burn. Just incase.

Now you have a pan, you'll want to cook some pancakes. All you need is a milk bucket, an egg and a piece of wheat. Get your pan, right click and wait till the batter goes a nice shade of brown. Right click again to "flip" the pancake, chucking the result into the air for you to grab. If you click too early, you'll get an undercooked pancake, and clicking too late will give you a burnt one. Both of these are... Less than desirable.
Now, you may be wondering about the two WIP creative exclusive pans. These pans are the Glacium and Leech pans. Glacium is a rare metal, hidden in the Nether. Thanks to Glacium, the Nether can retain a relatively hot temperature, but won't overheat and practically melt. It's essentially a natural coolant. This cold ore is, ironically, also an extremely good material for making frying pans. Explain that, Science. The metal itself doesn't exist yet, but the pan does. It's the current second fastest pan, next to the Nether pan, and takes as long as diamond to burn. If you have access to bending time and space, or just Creative mode, try one of these out - It's a worthy investment.
And finally, a strange pan. Unlike every other pan in the mod so far, this one isn't made of a metal or rock. No, this one's far more sinister. Chest Bursters are leech-like beings that live in swamps, rivers and oceans. Be careful near water, as Chest Bursters might see you and latch onto your head, a rather painful attack. If they gather too much blood from your head, they explode - Dealing piercing damage. This mob is fully coded, but you won't see it just yet. It's a reserved feature for another mod I'm making. But the Leech pan - A pan made out of the flesh and teeth of chest bursters - Is in. It's WIP, and doesn't have all the functionality I want it to (A mixture of priorities and laziness on my part) such as free creative use and a message showing how much "Blood" it has drained on the item lore in the inventory, but those aren't crucial to how the pan works.
Every hit of an enemy steals one "Blood". There's currently no way to measure this without counting hits, but it'll come in useful. Once your weapon has acquired 20 "Blood" (20 hits on ANY mobs in the game, including bosses and players), you can begin cooking. Undercooking and burning your dish yield the same result as any other pan, but if you cook correctly - You'll get a rather primal treat - The Blood Pancake. Eating this gives you Night Vision, Haste and a brand new effect - Bloodlust. Bloodlust makes you heal 2 hearts when attacking enemies, with a 1 in 10 chance.
Needless to say, it's a strange dish that I'll work on a bit before releasing it into Survival.
