Orbital Strike — Changelog 1.3.0
Minecraft 26.1.2 · Fabric
1.3.0
Added
- Meteorites: rarely (about once every 6 Minecraft days), a meteorite falls from the sky near a player, trailing fire and smoke. It digs a large, organic, roughly hemispherical crater with fused walls (blackstone, basalt, magma, glass), a burning ejecta rim, and the same aftermath as an orbital strike: dead forest, ashen grass, charred trees, the Irradiated Wasteland biome and a fallout zone.
- Meteorite Debris at the bottom of every crater (5 to 9 blocks, iron pickaxe or better). Each one gives exactly one Meteorite Fragment, whatever the pickaxe.
- Command
/orbitalstrike meteor(operators): drops a meteorite where you stand. - Lead Shielding: cheap radiation-proof masonry, 8 stone-type blocks around 1 lead ingot gives 8. Build a shelter (walls, roof and floor) and there is no radiation inside.
- Lead Door: works like an iron door (redstone), and blocks radiation when it is closed. 6 lead ingots give 3 doors.
- Mutant crops: wheat, carrots, potatoes and beetroots harvested ripe next to irradiated water (water inside a fallout zone, within 4 blocks) come out as mutant versions. Mutant carrots, potatoes, beetroots and Mutant Bread (3 mutant wheat) are more filling, but slightly radioactive, with odd side effects (glowing, nausea or a short regeneration).
- Uses for the withered plants:
- Dead Sugar Cane: 3 give 2 paper; fuel; compostable.
- Dead Bamboo: 2 give 2 sticks; scaffolding (with string); fuel; compostable.
- Rotten Melon: 4 bone meal, or 4 melon seeds (with shears); compostable.
- Rotten Pumpkin: 3 bone meal, or 4 pumpkin seeds (with shears), or a jack o'lantern with a torch; compostable.
- All dead leaves are compostable.
Changed
- Weapon components now need a Meteorite Fragment each (5 per designator): one meteorite is enough for one designator, never for two.
- Charred logs now drop 1 to 3 charcoal and at most one ash (was 2 to 4 ashes and sometimes coal).
Fixed
- Leaves no longer stay floating in the air after a strike: foliage that is no longer connected to a trunk (same rule as vanilla leaf decay) is removed.
1.2.3
Added
- Dead leaves for every tree type: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, pale oak, azalea and flowering azalea. The blast kills each tree's leaves into its own dead variant (shears or Silk Touch to collect them).
- Dead plants: Dead Sugar Cane, Dead Bamboo, Rotten Melon and Rotten Pumpkin. Sugar cane, bamboo, melons and pumpkins in the blast area wither into them.
- Satellite arrival: the satellite no longer pops into existence. When the target is locked it drops out of orbit far away, streaks in with an engine trail, brakes with a bright burn above the target, then unfolds its solar wings and extends its emitter.
Changed
- Creative mode: the designator has no recharge time.
- Ash deposits blow away 5 Minecraft days after the strike, layer by layer.
Fixed
- Jungle: vines, cocoa pods and hanging moss no longer float in the air after the strike (they burn, and anything left hanging without support is removed).
1.2.2
Changed
- Shaders (Iris): the strike now looks the same with a shader pack as without one. The original effects are drawn over the frame the pack has finished: white-hot core, additive glow, animated energy filaments, rings, impact glare, gunshot tracer and End rift, still hidden by terrain and mobs.
- Shaders (Iris): the grey haze keeps its real grey colour with a shader pack (it was tinted by the pack's colour grading).
1.2.1
Added
- Orbital satellite: a futuristic military satellite now hovers at the top of the lance, emitter pointed down, so you can see where the strike comes from. It drifts away along its orbit once the strike is over.
- The End: the designator works there, but the lance comes out of an interdimensional rift (a dark, swirling violet tear) that opens 50 blocks above the target. Only what lies below the rift is destroyed. The End gets the radiation zone, but no ash, no ash fall and no haze.
- Irradiated Wasteland biome: the fallout zone turns into a new biome, with a grey sky and fog, sickly grass and foliage, murky water, drifting ash, and no farm animals.
- Shader support (Iris): the lance, the lasers, the rings and the grey haze now show with a shader pack (tested with Sildur's Vibrant). The effects switch to a shader-friendly rendering automatically.
Changed
- The designator is now useless in the Nether: no satellite can reach through its ceiling.
- Trees, grass and the biome now change at the very moment the lance hits, spreading outward while the shaft is being bored (no more waiting for the shaft to finish).
- The lance now destroys every entity in the shaft, not only living ones: end crystals explode, and items, vehicles, item frames, paintings and so on are vaporised.
- Grey haze: visibility down to about 25 blocks (was 50). The haze now only exists inside the fallout zone and lasts 5 Minecraft days. The ash fall lasts 2 Minecraft days.
- New textures for the Hazmat Fabric, the Activated Charcoal and the Air Filter.
Fixed
- The grey haze no longer follows you once you leave the fallout zone.
- Snow that lay on felled or vaporised trees no longer stays floating in the air.
