What's new

Before you update

  • Hydrophobia changed for the Enderian and the Blazeborn. Water Protection now caps at 8 combined levels: 0.3 extra seconds between hits per level, up to 3.4 seconds. It used to keep growing, to about 5.8 seconds with a full set of Water Protection IV. It never softens hits or grants immunity. Instead, standing in an active conduit's field makes water and rain harmless (1.42.0, 1.43.0).
  • Each world has its own config at <world>/origins/config.json, which can switch layers, origins and single powers off for that world. Nothing is switched off until you edit it (1.46.0).
  • Graves show the origin a player died as with You're in Grave Danger, Gravestones or the GraveStone Mod installed (1.44.0).

1.46.14

Built against Apoli 1.108.0, which adds the apoli:start_raid entity action. No changes of its own.

1.46.12

Built against Apoli 1.107.0 (camera, field of view and zoom powers, custom_model_render on mobs). No changes of its own.

1.46.8

Built against Apoli 1.103.0. No changes of its own. That Apoli release fixes two things Origins players run into:

  • On NeoForge with Vanillin, /give @s origins:orb_of_origin (or any dropped item) no longer crashes the game.
  • Switching to or from an origin that changes your size resizes you straight away, on your screen and on the server.

1.46.6

Fixed — water death messages

Dying to Hydrophobia (Blazeborn, Enderian) or to a Merling's gills on dry land showed a raw translation key instead of a death message. The four messages are back.

1.46.4

Fixed — recipe badges draw their grid in order

An origins:crafting_recipe badge draws its prefix, then the recipe grid, then its suffix. A badge with only a suffix showed it above the grid, and on 1.20.1 hovering a badge with neither crashed the game. A badge that cannot show its grid now logs a warning naming the recipe, once per reload. The usual cause is a recipe that never loaded: ingredients have to be { "item": … } or { "tag": … } objects, and on 1.21.1 the result names its item with id.

Fixed — Arachnids could not craft cobwebs on 1.20.1

The Arachnid's cobweb recipe was written in the 1.21 format, so on 1.20.1 it never loaded and its badge was missing.

1.46.3

Added — written-out recipes in recipe badges

The origins:crafting_recipe badge accepts the recipe written out in full, the way the original Origins wrote it, as well as a recipe id. Packs using that form used to lose the badge with a Not a string error.

Needs Apoli 1.100.1 or newer, which also stops servers crashing when two recipe powers share a recipe id — common in packs made for the original Origins.

1.46.0

Added — a config for each world (contributed by FLDebug10)

Every world has its own Origins config at <world>/origins/config.json. It lists every layer, every origin and every power those origins grant, each with a switch, so a server owner can take something out of one world without touching the data packs that add it:

Switch Turning it off
layers.<layer>.enabled Removes the whole layer from this world.
layers.<layer>.origins.<origin> Takes that origin out of that one layer.
origins.<origin>.enabled Removes the origin from this world, in every layer.
origins.<origin>.powers.<power> Leaves the origin in place without that power.

The file is written when the world starts and read again on every /reload, so no restart is needed. A player whose origin is switched off keeps it on record but loses its powers, and gets them back if it is switched on again. If the file has a mistake in it, Origins logs a warning and leaves the file alone so it can be fixed.

Needs Apoli 1.98.0 or newer.

1.45.0

Added — Hallow

The Origins screen dresses up for October with a Hallow theme, the same way it goes Rainbow for June and Frigid over Christmas. Pick it all year round by setting the GUI Theme option (gui_theme) to hallow in the Origins config.

Fixed — underlines drew across the window frame

An underlined power name scrolled to the bottom edge of the origin window drew its underline over the frame.

1.44.0

Added — your origin on your grave

With You're in Grave Danger, Gravestones or the GraveStone Mod installed, every grave shows the origin the player had when they died: under their name on YIGD and the GraveStone Mod, and on the second sign line on Gravestones. It is stored with the grave, so switching origins later does not rewrite old graves, and hidden layers stay off it. Graves made before the update keep working, without the line.

Apoli 1.96.0 does the rest: power inventories go into the grave, and apoli:keep_inventory keeps its items.

1.43.0

Changed — Water Protection buys time, not armour

From a player's suggestion: no origin should be able to remove a weakness without an equal loss. Water Protection now does exactly one thing for the Enderian and the Blazeborn — each combined level across your armour adds 0.3 seconds to the gap between hits, up to 8 levels.

Combined level Gap between hits Time to drop from full health
0 1s ~10s
4 2.2s ~22s
8 or more 3.4s ~34s

Every hit is a flat 2 damage at every level, so two pieces of Water Protection IV already buy the whole delay and the other two slots stay free for Protection. The first hit still lands the moment you touch water, the clock keeps running on dry land, and Conduit Power is still the only immunity.

Needs Apoli 1.93.0 or newer.

1.42.1

Water Protection also took 4% off each hit per combined level. This was removed again in 1.43.0.

Needs Apoli 1.92.0 or newer, which also lets a conduit keep a Merling breathing on dry land anywhere in its range — 32 blocks for the smallest frame, 96 for a full one.

1.42.0

Changed — Hydrophobia for the Enderian and the Blazeborn

  • The Water Protection delay is capped at 8 combined levels (3.4 seconds between hits). It had no cap, so a full set kept stretching the gap.
  • An active conduit protects you: while you have Conduit Power, water and rain do not hurt at all.
