What's new

1.33.0

New Water Protection enchantment, for the origins that take damage from water and rain. It goes on any enchantable armour piece up to level IV, is about as rare as Blast Protection, can be found in the enchanting table, villager trades and enchanted books, and is mutually exclusive with the vanilla Protection enchantments.

It works in two ways. It reduces water and rain damage the same way Fire Protection reduces fire damage, two protection points per level per piece; and once your armour adds up to a combined level of eight or more, the damage stops entirely. Four pieces of Water Protection II will do it, and so will two pieces of Water Protection IV.

The immunity cut-off is not baked into the enchantment. It lives on the origin's power as an ordinary condition, so a data pack can raise it, lower it, or remove it and keep only the graded reduction. Any damage type in the origins:water_protection tag is covered, so a pack that adds its own drowning-style damage only has to add it to that tag.

Avians no longer lay an egg every time they climb out of a bed. The egg now only arrives after a sleep that actually finished.

1.31.0

Origins can carry tags, a free-form list of labels, and the new origins:origin_tag condition tests them. This means a condition can name a group of origins instead of listing every id, and a pack that adds another origin to the group does not have to go back and edit every power that cares.

Combined with Apoli 1.68.0's power tags, this is what makes an ability like "copy one power from whoever you touch" work without hard-coding the list of things it can copy.

1.30.0

Blazeborn now glow in the dark. Their model renders at full brightness, and with LambDynamicLights installed they cast real light on the blocks around them.

Blazeborn can also see clearly in lava. Vanilla Origins never gave them this, which always seemed like an oversight for an origin that is immune to fire and spawns in the Nether.

1.28.0

/origin gui and the Orb of Origin did nothing once every layer had been chosen. They now clear your layers and reopen the selection screen, and report a failure instead of silently opening nothing for zero players.

New /origin gui unchosen [<targets>] sub-command, which opens the screen for the first layer that has not been chosen yet without clearing anything. That is the old non-destructive behaviour, kept as its own command.
