Changes & Updates

The Kenjutsu Update!

  • Full Kenjutsu combat system rewrite introducing a slot-bindable, tier based ability progression, a Guard resource, and a new sword-combo flow
  • 16 Kenjutsu abilities unlocked across 6 tiers per the normal Kenjutsu Skill Learner, you unlock all abilities when you reach their respective tier:
    • Tier 1: Flash, Crescent Cut, Piercing Thrust
    • Tier 2: Dash Slash, Rising Slash, Iaido Slash
    • Tier 3: Shockwave Slash, Whirlwind Slash, Guard Break Strike
    • Tier 4: Shadow Step Cut, Crescent Moon, Cleave
    • Tier 5: Dance of the Crescent Moon, Execution Cut
    • Tier 6: Moonlight, Heaven Cutter
  • New Kenjutsu Bindings GUI (default hotkey: ;) lets you bind any unlocked ability to one of 3 ability slots
  • New ability slot hotkeys — O / P / [ by default — that fire whichever ability you have bound
  • New sword combo system: chained sword hits build a combo timer that adds bonus damage scaling with Kenjutsu skill; configurable hit cap and timeout
  • New Guard resource and Guard Break state; sword-blocking depletes guard instead of HP and breaks open when guard hits 0
  • Guard Break Strike ability shreds enemy guard and locks them out of blocking for a while
  • Shift + right-click on swords with activeabilities (Hiramekarei, Kiba/Nuibari/SilverBlade/Tanto, Shibuki, Gunbai/Samehada/Scythe Hidan) now triggers their old bare-right-click ability — the bare right-click is reserved for sword-blocking
  • KenjutsuConfig.cfg: every ability tunable, plus combo cap/timeout/scaling, guard base/scaling/regen/PvP/PvE reduction multipliers, stamina-per-tick cost, guard break recovery percent, guard break strike block-lock duration
  • New /guard command to manage and charge the guard resource (like /chakra)
  • New /kenjutsu command to manage ken tier unlocks
  • PlayerHUD additions: live Kenjutsu cooldown bars, guard meter, combo counter
  • SkillLearnerKenjutsu no longer hands out single abilities but the entire ability tier from 1-6

Crafting Config & Sword Recipes!

  • New CraftingConfig.cfg with per-recipe on/off toggles — server owners can disable any added recipe without touching code
  • Added recipes for a lot of swords (and DNA Combination, JP/XP token splitting, etc.) all gated through CraftingConfig
  • Recipes can be toggled/reloaded live via /narutoconfig reload craftingconfig
  • New Wiki page (WikiCrafting.cfg) listing every craftable item from the mod

Other Changes

  • New Katana models (materialkatana, nihonto, katana_standard, katana_sawblade, katana_training, katana_weak) with matching textures — all base katana renderers (KatanaRender, KatanaDiamondRender, KatanaEmeraldRender, KatanaGoldRender, KatanaSilverRender, Katana2/4/5/7Render, WoodKatanaRender, DefaultKatanaRender) - we once again thank <@456519843068248065> for his contributions
  • /rank reworked: now supports affiliations and ranks browsing and assignment
  • /cursemark gained a remove sub-command
  • New capes: Chicken Coop and Platypus- We thank @KattDoesArt for these! These will be sold to support the project

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed cape turning brown when holding CustomNPC tools
  • Fixed Kikaichu not draining the target's chakra
  • Fixed configured Bijuudama damage scaling not respecting the configured values
  • Fixed Armored Ninken and Super Clone Explosion not being properly registered with the summon system
  • Fixed Summon Clam clone spawning edge cases
  • Fixed Bounded Items being mergable in crafting/recipe grids
  • Fixed Rank Up GUI corrupting / breaking the player inventory
  • EightGatesAuraTick no longer fights the Susanoo renderer for visibility
  • Kage Kunai, Kage Shuriken, and Kage Small Shuriken chat messages now display the actual jutsu name instead of the old generic string
  • SummonClamEntity clone-spawning logic improved — clones spawn more reliably and respect summon-system invariants
  • SummonArmoredNinken and SuperCloneExplosion migrated into the standard summon AI pipeline
  • RashomonItem, SummoningJutsu, SummonArmoredNinken, SummonEnderShinobi, SummonNinjaZombie, SummonNinken, SummonCrow no longer take item durability damage on use
  • Summons that get separated from their owner via dimension change are now teleported home (or culled if unrecoverable to avoid duplication)

Server owners should review the new KenjutsuConfig.cfg and CraftingConfig.cfg, before pushing this to their playerbase. The Kenjutsu system also adds a number of new keybindings (O / P / [ / ; by default) — verify they don't conflict with your existing mods.

Dev Note

The Kenjutsu rework was mainly done by <@634093507388243978> so show him some love for it! As you could see in the last couple updates, there's a clear theme of stat-focused reworks going on and we will continue on that path for a while until we are satisfied with where every stat is in style and meta. Not every stat has to be equal, mind you, but we have always been about giving options and making all paths to power valid.
