A dimension creation mod based on the lore of Myst by the original author of Mystcraft.

Description

Mystcraft 2 brings the magic and myst-ery of Mystcraft to current versions of Minecraft, rewritten from the ground up.

Mystcraft 2 adds books which take you to new worlds in a very literal sense. Descriptive books provide one-way teleportation to new dimensions, while Linking books provide one-way travel to where they were created. However, the book itself does not come with you, and the doors they open don't close behind you.

The first releases of Mystcraft 2 will NOT include a writing system, nor a way to craft descriptive books. Instead, you will find descriptive books in structures and ruins. These books will function like fully written books, taking you to worlds that are fantastic, but not always safe. (Players of Mystcraft 1 will note that these worlds are guaranteed to be stable.)

In contrast to the original mod, Mystcraft 2 has a very different concept of instability. Rather than arbitrary effects to balance value, Mystcraft 2 seeks to make the dimensions it creates internally consistent, and respond to the specific features of the world. For example, a world written in greed, filled with diamonds, could be inhospitable due to the conditions which created that abundance, such as extremely hot or pressurized. Alternatively, the concepts of diamonds could be warped so they are not useful, or crumble to dust when mined. Worlds which sufficiently push against the natural order will simply not work.
This balancing is also based on the world as-written, and not the result of the generation, so no heavy post-processing or evaluation needs to occur, and the safety of your worlds should be more predicable.

While still in early stages, I hope you will have fun with this evolution on Mystcraft. Join us on the Discord server to talk about where the mod is going and express what you want to see!

You are free to include Mystcraft 2 in any CurseForge packs. The mod files may not be publicly hosted except by where uploaded by the mod author.
