Moss Overgrowth! Will help you fight infections, whether it be the Sculk Horde, The Flesh That Hates, Fungal Infection: Spore, From Another World, Ect...
You can start the Overgrowth by crafting and placing the Mossy Core, a block that must be protected from other infections or the Overgrowth will die off.
Crafting the core is no easy feat! You need to get a heart of the sea, 4 blaze powder, and 4 peices of Condensed Moss, at least for the first part.
Don't be scared about the Overgrowth infecting chests, or things like that. They know not too!
This is my first ever Minecraft mod, so give me ideas on how to improve this!

Here's my Trello if you want to make any suggestions!
(This mod does NOT lag, as it doesn't summon that many entities, and if it does you can just stop it.)
Also you CAN use this in videos, modpacks, and really anything.

Your Own Infection - Moss Overgrowth
(There are more videos, I am not going to list them all though.)
Obtaining The Overgrowth:
- To get The Overgrowth you first need to get an ancient heart. you will need 4 Blaze Powder, four Condensed Moss, and a Heart of the Sea.
- Then you need 8 Condensed Moss surrounding the ancient heart to get the Mossy Core, the Mossy Core starts the overgrowth.
Overview of The Overgrowth: - The Overgrowth will start to spawn many structures, most notably the trees and ores that it creates.
- You can get Mossy wood from the trees, a new wood type. I may have missed any crafting recipes that Mossy Wood creates, so tell me if that is the case.
- It can also create tall pillars; they do not do anything and are just for show.
- Finally, they can create Moss Plants, which will expand outwards and block out the sun, it will summon Moss Spreaders to convert the land below it, while also creating glowberry vines, and Moss stalks. They can spread endlessly in any direction.
- There are also custom water structures, however I have not added them just yet.
- The Overgrowth will also summon mobs to defend itself and you from other infections, they will evolve upon kill. Do not worry about attacking them, they do not fight players.
Orders:
The more you use orders, the stronger they'll become.
- Converge: Will force any Mossy Mobs in a 25 x 25 radius to go directly to you.
- Reinforce: Will summon 1 of every (excluding salmon and spider) moss mob on top of you if you are on land. It will summon a lot of mossy salmon if under water.
- Summon Steed: Summons a mossy spider for you to ride.
- Summon Node: Summons an Evolved Mossy Spider to spread moss in the area.
- Blitz: Force all Mossy Mobs in a 25 x 25 area to go on-top of you, and gives them strength and speed for 10 seconds.
- Advance Phase: Advances the Moss Phase.
- Spread: Spreads moss in the surrounding area.
- Cleanse: Grants every moss mob in a 25 x 25 radius Glow Berry Immunity.
- Infect: Affects any entity in a 5x5 raidius with Glow Berry Pathogen.
- Create Platform: Creates a Moss Plant and then teleports you on-top of it.
- Call Buffs: Summons an Evolved Mossy Witch at your exact location.
- Warp: Teleport to an Evolved Mossy Witch in your area.
- Fuel: Increases the mob cap by 50.
- Stop: Completely ceases the Overgrowth's spreading.
- Resume: Resumes the Overgrowth's spreading.
- Toggle Building: Toggles whether you want the Overgrowth to build structures, will also toggle the main way spreaders multiply.
Superorders: - Spread: Unleashes a torrent of moss, spreading it everywhere and summoning an Evolved Mossy Spider on-top of you.
- Attack: Summons 35 mossy mobs to defend you, also summons an Evolved Mossy Spider
- Titan: Summons a Mossy Golem directly ontop of you, good for dealing with powerful enemies.
- Advance Phae: Advances the Overgrowth Phase into the Expurgation phase, which activates the Pale Moss.
Phases: - Base:
1. The start of the moss spreads the slowest.
2. Mob cap is 100. - Extermination:
1. All moss now damages monsters that step on it.
2. Increased spread speed.
3. Mob cap is increased by 100. - Evolution:
1. Moss Plants can now start being created naturally.
2. Increased spread speed.
3. Mob cap is increased by 100. - Adaptation:
1. Increased spread speed.
2. Mob cap is increased by 100.
3. Glowing Heart can be created. - Regeneration:
1. Increased spread speed.
2. Mossy Golems can now spawn from the Overgrowth directly.
3. Mob cap is increased by 100.
4. Mossy Brains can be created. - Expansion:
1. Increased spread speed.
2. Mob cap is increased by 100. - Restoration:
1. Increased spread speed.
2. Mob cap is increased by 100.
Moss Brain: - A rare structure that the Overgrowth can create after a certain amount of time.
- Allows for De-Evolution instead of death. (Evolved and Ultra Evolved will devolve down to the previous evolution instead of dying completely.)
- Greatly increases spread speed of the Overgrowth.
Glow Berry Heart:
- Gives all mobs an extra totem if they die, meainging mobs without a totem get a totem, and mobs with a totem get an extra totem.
- Buffs Moss and Glow Berry Pathogen damage.
Spore Blossom Lungs:
- When a Moss Mob dies, it releases a Moss Spore.
Moss Sprout:
Spore Blossoms are the beckons of the Overgrowth. When something spawns, there is a chance it can get the Overgrowing effect, which will give a 1 in 10 chance of spawning a Moss Sprout. They passively spread the moss, and summon Moss Spores to defend itself. After a little they will grow into a Moss Sprout phase 2, which is about the same as the first one, just with more health and faster. Once a Moss Sprout reaches phase 3 it will create a city/town.
Lush Cave Structures:
Revamped the lush cave, because it wasn't fun going through it last time I played.
- Added a whole bunch of new structures, and even something resembling an ancient city in there. Don't worry, it doesn't have anything deadly.
- More structures will be added soon.
- Moss Plant tops can be found in some of the structures.
Armor:
There are currently 2 new armor sets added by this mod.
- Mossy Crown: Allows you to reinforce without the reinforce order.
- Empowered Moss Chestplate: Creates a 25 x 25 damaging aura around you.

You can become infected by using the Yearning Heart.
YOU CANNOT UNINFECT YOURSELF IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS.
You will be unable to wear your upper body armor.
Infected Player (Fighter):
Blooming:
- Moss Spores will be able to spawn to help you attack your enemies.
- You will get a totem effect that allows for you to survive 1 near death hit. It will grant everything around it GBP and spawn Moss Spores to defend you.
- Get the ability to burrow
Blossoming:
- Get an extra totem effect.
- You will get armor from your infection.
- Get a throwable spike, which grants slowness and pierces.
- Get thorns.
Bearing:
- Get an extra totem effect.
- Get more armor from your infection.
- Instead of spikes, thow a Blight Berry.
- Get more powerful thorns.
Infected Player (Spreader):

City Building:
- The Moss will also build Towns/Cities when a Moss Sprout grows into Stage 3.
- There are 2 buildings that they can generate so far, a house, and a bridge. More will be added.
Focuses:
Focuses are certain items you can wear with a Focus Carrier, dropped by a Nature's Blessing Cultist.
They are crafted in Moss Jaws, a new crafter, make with Bones and Condensed Moss.
You use a Blank Focus, also dropped by a Nature's Blessing Cultist, and an Engraver.
Nature's Blessing Cultists are a new type of creature that spawn in Lush Caves, they attack Monsters, but will attack the player if the player is in sight without the Nature's Blessing Focus.
Current Engravers:
- Glow Berry Heart: Mosskin
- Order: Reinforce: Commander
- Glow Berries: Glow Berry Pulse
- Moss Bulb: Uncraftable, found in an Ancient Cathedral
- Spore Blossom: Nature's Blessing
- Bloom Bomb: Spore Bloom
Each focus gives an upside, and a downside, (I tried to make them balanced)
There is no limit to the ammount of Focuses you can wear, however, they don't stack, if you had two of the same focus, they wouldn't double the effects.
Focuses & Effects:
- Mosskin: Get weakness 1 when not standing on moss, but get Strength and Regeneration when standing on moss.
- Natures Blessing: Cultists don't attack you. It is also essential for the Ancient Heart crafting recepie.
- Glow Berry Pulse: You release a pulse of Glow Berry Pathogen every 3 seconds, but you cannot move while it happens.
- Spore Bloom: Gain Regeneration every time you use an item, however, you take extra damage.
- Commander: All Moss Mobs in a certain radius becomes invincible, however you have permanent weakness 1.
- Split: Take A LOT MORE damage but every time you get hurt (within a 1 second cooldown) summon a random Moss Mob.
The King:
- The King is an NPC you can summon at the top of the Moss Cathedral. You can only speak to him if you have the Nature's Blessing focus. Talking to him will strengthen your orders even more, but only at the end.
- He can also tell you how much the moss listens to you. The more you use orders, the louder your voice becomes. Once your orders have grown strong enough, he will come to your aid in fights.
- Don't worry about getting attacked while talking to him. He uses his magic to crush the bodies of monsters that get near him.

Overgrowth:
Structures spawn from the Overgrowth trying to help the player, or itself no need to interfere!
The Overgrowth will also spawn ores for you to mine! (Don't use pickaxes or tools, the ores are too fragile for that.)
The Overgrowth will also spawn things to defend you from others. Don't worry about attacking them, as they will be peaceful towards you.
It will also spawn large, growing platforms called Moss Plants! They light up the area and provide Glow Berries.
In one of the structures, is something called the Mossy Crafter. It lets you bring dead things back to life. Plus, it let's you create Mossified Paper. Arguably the most important item in the whole mod! (Aside from the Mossy Core.)
Mossified Paper lets you create orders for the Overgrowth to follow. They can turn a tide in a war against an infection.
Orders:
There are 10 current orders you can use with the Overgrowth.
Congregate Order: Takes all Mossy Mobs in a 25 x 25 radius and teleports them to you.
Call Buffs Order: Summons an Evolved Mossy Witch to your location.
Retreat Order: Teleports you, and other Mossy Mobs 200 blocks away. (Might kill you)
Teleport Away Order: Teleports you to an Evolved Mossy Witch, if there is one in a 100 x 100 block radius.
Mini Spread: Summons Spreaders to infect a small zone, different from the spread bomb because this can build structures and potentially grow into another Overgrowth.
Spread Bomb: Places a block which infects a small zone, but infects everything.
Reinforce Order: Summons Mossy Mobs to defend you.
Platform Order: Creates a Moss Plant and then places you on-top of it.
Raid Order: Left click with the order to set the position of the raid, and then right click to actually send the raid. If the Overgrowth is dead, it wont do anything.
Summon Node: Summons an Evolved Mossy Spider to your location.
After Overgrowth:
If your Overgrowth fails, and dies hope is not lost!
If you dig under where the Mossy Core was, you will see the dead heart. Break it to get it. Then put it into a Mossy Crafter to get an empowered heart. Put the Empowered Heart into a crafting table, put condensed moss in a helmet shape and put the Heart in the middle. You get the Crown Of Moss. Able to summon reinforcements for free, and not letting you get any potion effects.
It also has more armor points than Netherite!
(THE WITCHES ATTACKING OTHER MOSS MOBS IS NOT A GLITCH, THE WITCHES BUFF THEM.)

Lore:
Prologue:
Many people died during the war, kings, queens, and everyone in between was conquered by an infection. It was reported to infect the ground, and others. It had already conquered most of the continent, the last bastions of humanity underground in ancient cities, and moss cities. However, the cities with the sculk were cowardly and had activated the ancient portals and fled into a dimension unknown to the rest of the world.
The moss civilization however, had to retreat deeper and deeper into the caves, as the parasites pushed them back further and further, they built outposts, temples, and anything else to try and get away. However it would always find them, no matter where they went. So one day the king of Undergrowth, one of the last countries to have not fallen to the infection, came to his scientists for help. These scientists had collected all sorts of samples they had gathered from the wars.
Some of the scientists had gotten bit or slashed by infection, but they felt fine enough to work on the project among the others. So they got to work, collecting and analysing data on how the infection spread, how it behaved, and most importantly, how it assimilated. However, for the 2 years of studying, no results have really been published about a cure, just information on the infection.
However, their efforts would have to be rushed as the king informed them that their walls and armies started to fail them, the infection starting to seep into the undergrowth.
Chapter 1: The Fall
"You three!"
The king called out to the supervisors, overlooking the scientists, his crown badly damaged. He had a solemn stare, his piercing green eyes boring into them. His sword was badly damaged and entangled in glowberry vines.
"The entire peacekeeper brigade is infected. I've sent the last of my men to hold it off, but it won't be long. The infection is already creeping through the first wall."
One of the scientists speaks up, his tone is slightly panicked, just hearing about this news has the room shocked.
"Sire, we cannot rush things like this, if we do, we could make the issue a lot worse than it already is."
"I understand that, but I still need results. I cannot keep funding this operation with the infection at our doorstep, and you all not giving me anything to work with!"
The king raises his voice, something he rarely ever does, he starts looking more frustrated now, as he drops his useless sword to the ground, he sits down in a corner and looks up at the mossy ceiling, contemplating his choices leading up to this. He tilts his head back down and speaks to the whole room
"Fine... I'll try to get the rest of the citizens to do a mining run for more iron, we can replace the losses with golems... If you all come out of this with no results, I will personally give you to the infection."
"Understood."
With that, the king leaves the room, picking up his sword and dragging it out of the royal laboratory. He can hear the screaming of spells and swords clashing from caves above him, and then multiple loud BOOMs that caused the cave to rumble. Walking out, he walks onto one of the natural balconies overlooking the country, people are in stone houses, their windows shut, and their lights turned off. Only the half-burnt torches illuminate the area seen for miles.
He mutters a spell under his breath, as the lapis lazuli in his crown starts to glow slightly.
"EVERY CITIZEN OF THE UNDERGROWTH EMERGE FROM YOUR HOUSING!"
He yells this, the cave shaking from his magically enhanced voice, people hurriedly walking out of their housing to look at their king.
"I NEED EVERYONE TO START MINING AS MUCH IRON AS POSSIBLE, MAKING GOLEMS IS THE NEW PRIORITY!"
With that, the citizens all start going into their houses, most emerging with some sort of pickaxe and armor. He watches as the swarm of people all funnel into caves, and into ravines. He then walks back to the cavern from where he came from, going back into his royal palace. He sits on his throne and before he can relax, a soldier he recognises from the division he sent to destroy the infected peacekeepers bursts into the room, blood and gore covering his normally green uniform. He runs in, very clearly out of breath.
"Sire! Sire! Dire new from the front!"
"What is it..?"
As if he couldn't hear enough bad news already.
"The division was surprise attacked while approaching the walls! Only I had survived because some of the soldiers had blown themselves up!"
"What do you mean, 'while you were approaching the walls?'"
"Sir, it had already breached. Peacekeepers must've been surprise attacked as well, it's just trying to get as many bodies before it invades the rest of the country."
"Order the builders to construct a new wall of obsidian. Make it double layered. Cover it in lava, and-"
"The infection went around the walls. Its learing out behavior at an exponential rate."
"Oh dear... Run down to the storage department and tell them to use the last of the iron to create golems to fend off the infection while we get more."
"Yes sir!"
The soldier, still covered in blood sprints out of the royal courtroom, his feet staining the moss carpet with blood. He notices something strange though, the moss had absorbed the blood almost immediately, and then spread. It was a very miniscule amount, but it freaked the king out and he screamed for his royal guard.
About 100 people rush into the courtroom, and with their gloved hands, pick up the moss. They quickly inspect it, looking for infected visual signs, immune system signs, and anything else however they find nothing. It's just normal moss.
"Take the infection out of this palace! Get it out! It needs to be moved back into the quarantine zone!"
"Sir, it's just normal moss. Calm yourself."
One of the guards spoke up, his voice calm and collected, a stark contrast to the panicked voice of the king.
"I saw it spread! I saw it absorb the blood of a soldier's boots!"
"We will stay here if anything happens, we assure you it is just moss."
The king does not respond, but accepts defeat. However he has an idea.
"Take a sample to my scientists."
"Yes sir."
One of the guards takes two handfuls of moss and walks into the connected laboratory, handing it to the other scientists. He then walks back into the room and stands guard.
"Done."
The king slumps back into his throne, trying to process the news that the soldier had just given him. *Was it really past the walls? How did it sneak up on us? What does it know about us and what we're planning?* All of these questions swirled around his mind before the cave shaked, a deafening roar heard above. One of the wizards in the king's royal guard was using his spectation spell. His blank eyes widened.
"A massive thing just punched through all three walls. It's heading directly for the mainland..."
The old man's voice weary, his hands shaking as his pupils fade back into his eyes, the spell ending.
The king throws his crown on the floor in frustration. He's about to stomp it out before the wizard stops him again, holding his hand out. He uses his telekinesis to pick up the crown and place it back on his head.
"You are not helping by destroying your crown, neither will giving up help. You should know that."
"Just... Show me what that creature is doing. I want eyes on it."
The old man presses his right hand against the king's forehead, both of their pupils fading out as their vision zooms towards the creature, it is monstrous, at least 5 times the size of a normal villager. It enters the mainland, stomping and crushing houses, looking for anything to infect. It finds nothing.
It continues down, picking up the smell of blood, staring at the floor looking at bloody footprints. It quickly follows them, approaching a large cave with another wall. It roars at the wall and charges straight through it, only to be punched across the face by an Iron Golem. The golem lands behind the creature, as more and more start to pour out through the cave, pushing against the creature, they manage to throw it out of the cave.
The creature roars, throwing saliva everywhere, it quickly charges the Iron Golems pouring out from the cave, the golems getting ready, they put up their arms, and run at the creature.
Chapter 2: Temporary Cure
The mutant creature stomps on some of the golems with its front limbs crushing them into a fine iron powder. In reltaliation the golems swarm the beast, punching at it from every direction, parts of the golems are cracking due to the force of their punches. However, the beast is mostly unharmed, it's durable hide barely taking much damage from the punches.
Some of the golems step back, their cracked hands needing a slight break, they take blocks from the nearby houses. Throwing the chunks of house at the monstrosity, however, all it does is bounce harmlessly off the monster.
"Oh my god..."
The king's vision returns back to him, he looks at the wizard with a concerned and solemn gaze. The battle can be heard echoing through the caves and into the palace walls.
"We will do what we can to keep it at bay my lord. However we may all be delaying the inevitable..."
"I'd rather be infected later than now."
The king walks back outside, trying to see the creature for himself, however the cave is too dark for anything to be seen. He can hear scuttling below him, and behind him. Presumably in other caves. He looks back at the ceiling, the glowberries and spore blossoms illuinating the deepslate and moss roof niceley.
"If only it were this peaceful everywhere..."
He hears more scuttling behind him, getting louder and louder. Before he can turn around to react, one of the infected slash him on the arm. He quickly rips it in half, the tender and battered flesh easily giving way to his strength. It collapses into a bloody mess on the ground. He looks at his arm, the area around it slowly getting infected, he can see his veins starting to bulge out as the infection takes root.
"Shit."
He walks down the steps, leading into the mainland, the golems still fighting the monstrosity to no avail. He can hear the fighting in the distance, the cave shaking and rumbling each time the monstrosity runs into a wall. He frantically walks towards the fighting, trying to at least go out swinging.
After a particularly violent charge, the monster digs its head into the wall, the impact shaking cave debris and glowberries from their vines off the ceiling. One lands in the king's hands, being slightly peckish, he takes a bite of them, and he feels something strange... His wound starts to heal slightly, the veins in his arm shrink slightly.
He looks back up at the ceiling, glowberries falling from the sky, some landing on the monstrosity, burning its hide. It shrieks and roars, removing its head from the wall, it shakes the glowberry fluid off. More glowberries are falling from the ceiling, the King catching a few and running back to his palace.
Running back up the stairs, he gets suprised attacked by two more infected, they tackle him, sending him down the stairs, breaking his enchanted diamond chestplate. Pieces of it fall off of him, as the two infected get closer, he draws his sword covered in moss. He takes a glowberry that he had caught, and skewers it with the sword.
The infected back up, they know now from the monstrosity transmitting information to the hive mind. Their fleshy hands are swolen and some showing bone. However, The King doesn't care, stabbing one of them in the eye, it's head dissolves, the body collapsing onto the ground.
The other infected starts to run away, however The King grabs it by the back of the head, the sword's tip emerging from the infecteds forehead, it's head melting away as the glowberry's fluid melts the head of the infected just like the last one. Then, he hears the unmistakeable sound of a totem of undying being used.
He speeds up, sprinting up the stairs, his legs going faster and faster as he bursts into the courtroom. However, when he gets in there, bodies are littered everywhere, blood smearing along the walls intestines, lungs and other internal organs are splayed across the room, most of them half eaten or missing.
"What the hell happened here?!?"
The only one barely alive was the wizard, his torso was ripped open, there were pieces of debris on him, chunks of stone digging into his skin. He was coughing up blood, but he could still speak. He looks at The King weakly, his pale eyes glazing over the kings form.
"You got infected..."
His voice raspy and weak, however still knowing. He raises his hand towards the King, and displays a vision for him, the Kings pupils fading away.
"So, how long do you think it will take for the King to return?"
One of the guards speaks to another, the armor glowing slightly with the enchantments he had placed on the armor.
"I don't know. Soon hopefully."
Before one of the guards respond, the door to the palace bangs. One of the guards steps closer, and the door bangs harder, louder this time. He steps back, raising his sword towards the door.
"That's not him."
A swarm of infected burst through the door, the wood splintering and shattering. They flood into the courtroom and battle the royal guard, swords slicing against flesh, cutting through the infected. Spells are thrown out all over the place to help fight. The head wizard placing protection spells under everyone. However, the longer the fight went on, the more infected started to show up, and they started to show up in stronger forms. Eventually after a tought battle, everyone was slaughtered. However the head wizard had a totem of undying. He opted to use it as late as possible, as he didn't want the infected to know he was alive.
The vision continues however, the infected starting to swarm at a reinforced door, the door to the royal labratory. They start to bang on it. Parts of the wood splintering, and snapping. However just before the door can break down, the cave shakes violently from the monster fighting with the Golems, causing the roof to collapse on both the infected and the enterance to the royal labratory.
The vision quickly ends as the King's pupils return to the King's eyes. He looks down at the wizard, however he is already dead. He had bled out from the injuries from the rubble above.
The King runs to the part of the rubble with the royal labratory behind it, he yells as loud as he can to try and penetrate the rubble.
"Is anyone alive in there?!"
To his suprise, he gets a response from his lead scientist.
"Some of us have minor cuts from the rubble, but other than that we are okay! Our work will not be stopped by rubble, we'll just have to find a way around this! We have the moss you gave us, it's facinating! Exposure to magic had mutated it into a hypermoss!"
The King sighed, releif washing over him. At least this was slightly good news. He stands up straight, and walks out of the bloody palace, now with moss growing in every corner. He walks outside, and goes back to the balcony, glowberries are scattered all over the ground, landing on the soft moss must've prevented them from breaking.
The King runs down the steps, going to collect more Glowberries.
