What's new

The first release. Moo Materials is resource cows: feed a cow coal and it becomes a coal cow, milk it with an empty bucket, and breed the rest of the table out of the ones you have. 88 kinds across seven tiers, and no cow of them spawns in the world.

Added

  • Twelve starting cows. Give an ordinary cow coal, flint, sand, a clay ball, a snowball, cobblestone, an oak log or one of the five basic dyes and it becomes that resource cow. That is the only way in - everything above tier 1 is bred, so a diamond cow cannot be bought with a diamond.
  • Milking with an empty bucket. The bucket is the tool, not the goods: it stays in your hand and the resource goes into your inventory. Unless the resource is a bucket - lava and water cows hand theirs over and take your empty one, because otherwise one bucket would be worth any amount of iron.
  • Four stats on every cow, all inherited: growth, gain, strength, luck. Growth sets how fast the udder refills and how quickly a calf grows up, gain how much one milking gives, strength the chance a calf comes out better than its parents, luck a bonus item - and from luck 7 a lucky strike: one item of a cow a whole tier above this one. Crouch with an empty hand to read them off an animal.
  • Breeding is a chance, never a promise. Every pair in the table names one calf and the odds for it, and every point of the parents' strength adds two percent. A failed roll is not a lost calf - it simply takes after one of its parents.
  • 88 cows in seven tiers, from coal to awakened draconium. All 25 resource chickens of the old Chickens mod are covered, plus the sixteen vanilla colours, which mix by the real crafting recipe - orange from red and yellow, magenta from purple and pink.
  • Cows for other mods, when they are installed. Mekanism (osmium, fluorite, bio fuel and the alloys up to the atomic one), Create (zinc, andesite alloy, brass, rose quartz, refined radiance, shadow steel), Applied Energistics (certus quartz, silicon, sky stone, fluix), Ender IO (redstone, energetic and vibrant alloy, soularium), Modern Industrialization (titanium, platinum, battery alloy), Industrial Foregoing (plastic, pink slime), Immersive Engineering (coal coke) and Draconic Evolution (draconium, and awakened draconium as the top of the whole tree). What several mods have in common - aluminium, nickel, silver, electrum, constantan, tin, lead, steel, bronze, uranium, sulfur - is asked for by tag, so one cow serves whichever of those mods your pack has.
  • Without the mod there is no cow. A cow whose resource is missing is not in the creative menu, no pair breeds it and no lucky strike turns it up. A pure vanilla pack sees exactly 47 cows.
  • A catcher rod (two sticks and a lead): right-click a resource cow and it becomes an item - kind, stats, age and how full the udder was travel with it. Right-click a block and the same cow stands there again. It holds 64, so a whole herd moves in one trip.
  • Three machines, one step each: breeder, nursery, stall. The breeder turns two cows and two wheat into a calf; the nursery raises calves to grown cows; the stall milks up to sixteen cows of one kind on its own. The output of one is the input of the next, so hoppers run the line. All three use the same numbers a live cow does - a stall never gives more than a pasture would.
  • A feed slot in every machine. Wheat is never needed, it only doubles the pace while it lasts; one ear is worth 30 seconds, a hay bale nine times that. Nothing is eaten while there is nothing to do.
  • Cows are food too. A cow item smelts into steak in a furnace, a smoker or over a campfire - a calf makes one, a grown cow two to four by its gain. A herd bred for yield is worth more at the fire as well.
  • Everything in JEI. Three pages: which pair makes which calf and with what odds, what a cow gives when milked, and which resource turns an ordinary cow into which starting cow.
  • Everything in Jade, if you have it: the four stats, the chance a calf improves and how long the udder still needs, just by looking at a cow.
  • A spawn egg for every kind, tinted in that cow's own two colours, and a config option (yieldMultiplier) for packs that want cows to be worth more or less.
