🧪 Mo' Creatures: Nostalgia Edition — v1.20.1-1.0.0 (Beta 2)

A major update to the 1.20.1 beta — focusing on spawn fixes, aquatic AI, and config rewrites.

✅ New Features & Improvements

🧬 Mob Spawning Overhaul (w/ help from AlexMobs)

  • Spawning now uses biome tags for more accurate placement.
  • Mo' Creatures mobs now respect dimension rules — no more sky-falling Wraiths or Werewolves in the End.
  • Aquatic mobs are now the only mobs that spawn in water — goat families have been safely returned to land.
  • 🦈 Shark spawning has been corrected.

⚙️ Configuration System Rewrite

  • The old MoCreatures.cfg system is being phased out.
  • Replaced with MoCreatures.json, mimicking a datapack-style config system.
  • Documentation provided here.

🐉 Wyvern Persistence

  • Wyverns now (finally) stay in their lair across chunk reloads.
  • Further testing planned to confirm edge cases.

🐛 Bug Fixes

🐬 Dolphin Movement (Taming + Riding)

  • Fixed a critical bug where dolphins were immobile.
  • Caused by deprecated method calls from 1.16.5.
  • Required a full rewrite of taming and ride behavior.
  • Erratic motion still needs tweaking, but functionality is restored.

🧠 Aquatic Mob Memory Leak

  • A bad pathfinder was causing mobs to drift endlessly and leak memory.
  • This was due to broken swimming AI in 1.20.1.

🎣 Fishnet Storage / Amulet Issues

  • Certain mobs could not be stored due to bad casts left over from the initial 1.20.1 port.
  • Fixed for fishnets and relevant amulets.

🦃 Turkey Model

  • Turkey model had disconnected parts and animation glitches.
  • Fixed by properly reattaching model part hierarchy for 1.20.1.

📖 Horse Guide Book

  • Now working correctly — available in the Misc creative tab.

⚠️ Known Issues

  • Big Golem
    Block shooting (incorrect blocks held, granite is defaulted? Shoots nothing)

  • Mini Golem
    Minor block-positioning offsets — should be a quick fix

  • Tameable Horses
    Legs sometimes animate like ghosts or flying state, when neither are applicable
    Ghost horse legs don't enter float state unless over air/water

  • Wyvern Dimension
    Teleportation back to the Overworld is not restricted to the portal

  • Multiplayer
    Not fully tested yet — further stability testing pending

  • Language localization
    Still incomplete
