Overpowered Items aims to add a variety of strange items, tools and weapons to Minecraft that Mojang would never add, while still trying to somewhat maintain the balance of the game.

Description

Overpowered Items aims to add a wide variety of items, tools and weapons to the game that Mojang may never even consider. Though the mod is quite small at the moment, I'm working on expanding it.

This is my first mod! There could be bugs that I didn't notice. I made this mod using MCreator. Although the mod is called Overpowered Items, I really want to include everything that I think would make the vanilla game better. There are cool items in the mod already and I plan on adding even more powerful ones in the future, while also paying attention to the balance of the game. I make this mod mainly for fun and for my friends to play with.

Thank you if you decide to download the mod. It can be freely used in modpacks. The use of JEI is recommended.

Minecraft version: 1.20.1
Forge version: 47.3.0

Quality of Life Changes:

Tridents are now craftable. Place 3 diamonds on the top row, 2 prismarine crystals and a heart of the sea on the middle row, and a prismarine shard on the bottom row.

You can place rotten flesh on campfires. After 35 seconds they will cook into leather.

You can craft Name Tags using leathers, a string, an ink sac and a piece of paper.

You can craft Enchanted Golden Apples by surrounding a normal golden apple with 8 gold blocks.

You can repair Anvils by crafting a broken or chipped anvil together with an iron block.

Zombies and skeletons now can spawn in full iron armor. Wither skeletons can spawn with a piece of diamond armor. Undead mobs can spawn with different kinds of swords in their hands (except netherite). Hostile mobs can spawn with different potion effects, for example: speed, jump boost, resistance, etc. I made these changes to make the basic mobs a little more difficult.

There's a new gamerule called takeXPWhenPlayerRespawns. This gamerule only works if keepInventory is turned ON. If this gamerule is set to true, whenever the player dies they'll lose 3 xp bars. This can be useful for players who use keepInventory, prefer to not lose all their items upon death, but still want a bit of a challenge. The gamerule is set to false by default.

There's a new gamerule called xPAmountTaken. This determines how many xp bars the game should remove from the player when takeXPWhenPlayerRespawns is turned on. If the player sets it to 10, the game will remove 10 xp bars when they perish. By default it is set to 3.

There's a new gamerule called hardMode. It is set to false by default. If the gamemode is turned ON, it will make the game much harder but also a bit more rewarding.

Cons:
- Creepers spawn with Speed II
- Blazes have more health
- Blazes set the player on fire for 15 seconds (water cauldron and fire resistance are a must have)
- Wither Skeletons spawn in FULL diamond armor and with a diamond sword
- Spiders and Cave Spiders spawn with Invisibility with a 25% chance
- Undead mobs have a 33% chance to poison you when they attack you
- Magma Cubes have a 25% chance to spawn lava where they died
- Vindicators spawn with a Sharpness III Diamond Axe
- Pillagers spawn with a Quick Charge III Crossbow
- Ravagers spawn with Resistance II
- The Wither can give you the Blindness effect for a few seconds
- If you break a block with your tool, it will lose 2 durability points instead of 1. So tools like pickaxes, axes and shovels break twice as fast

The Ender Dragon is supposed to have more health but it doesn't work currently.

Pros:
- All mobs drop more XP upon death
- Mobs that don't normally drop XP now drop XP upon death
- Creepers drop more Gunpowders
- Blazes drop more Blaze Rods
- Undead mobs have a chance to drop 1-2 iron or gold ingots upon death
- Illagers have a 10% chance to drop an Emerald Block upon death
- Wither Skeletons have a chance to drop 1-2 diamonds upon death
- The Wither has a chance to drop 1-4 netherite scraps upon death

Items:

You can craft a Magnet with iron ingots, lapis and redstone blocks and a Nether Star. If you right-click with the magnet, you can pull up various ores from the mines right into your inventory. The highest chance is coal or copper, with a lower chance of iron, lapis, redstone, gold, emerald, but with a small percentage chance even diamonds. In the Nether, you can attract quartz and gold, and with a very small chance of 1-2 ancient debris. The magnet doesn't work in the End. If you craft a magnet, you can get the Fear Magneto advancement.

There's a new craftable item called the Chalice of Infinite Water. It can be used as a water bucket, but you can place an infinite amount of water with it. You can even place water with it inside the Nether. By doing so, you get the Cursed Water advancement. But beware, as the gods of Minecraft do not like when you break their rules. They will damage you everytime you place water inside the Nether or even try to use the Chalice of Infinite Water.

If there's a chalice for infinite water, there must be a Chalice of Infinite Lava. It can be used as a lava bucket, but you can place an infinite amount of lava with it. By crafting this item you get the Infinite Obsidian advancement. This chalice is immune to fire damage just like netherite, but you can use it as fuel in furnaces. It can smelt an infinite amount of items. (It can actually only smelt 25.000 items but you get the item back after smelting.)

Every mob can drop a new item when they die. This is the Cube of Experience. This item can be used to craft Bottle o' Enchantings in survival. The more max health a mob has, the greater the chance it will drop a cube of experience. A pig has 3% chance, a zombie has 5%, a vindicator has 7%, etc. The bosses and mobs with a ton of health (like the Warden) drop more cubes when they die. The drop rate is not affected by the Looting enchantment. By crafting 64 or more Bottle o' Enchantings the player can get the Who Needs an XP Farm? advancement.

There's a new craftable weapon called the Thunder Staff. It's crafted with 1 iron block1 iron ingot2 iron nuggets and 1 weatherium block. When the player right-clicks with this staff, it summons 20 bolts of lightning from the sky. If you press Shift while using the staff it only summons 4, also costing less durability. These lightning bolts do not damage the player. The wand also grants the player a few seconds of Speed Boost. After use, the wand has a 27.5 second cooldown. It has 27 durability and can be enchanted with Mending and Unbreaking. Using the staff will grant you the Where There's Rain, There's Thunder advancement.

There is an 11% chance of finding a new pickaxe in jungle temple chests, the Monkey Motivator. It is a tool roughly equivalent to a diamond pickaxe but its speed rivals with gold's. If you hold down Shift while breaking blocks, the Monkey Motivator can dig in a three-by-three area, but it also loses more durability this way. If it's at low durability, you can repair it with Golden Bananas at an anvil. Obtaining this item will grant you the Minions Approved advancement. You can also craft this item.

Golden Bananas. A new food source, albeit quite valuable. It can be obtained in three ways. 1 or 2 golden bananas can be found in jungle temple chests. It can be sold by Wandering Traders for 8 emeralds. It can also be sold by master-level Farmer Villagers for 16 emeralds and 4 golden ingots. When eaten, it instantly restores 4 hearts of health. Furthermore, this very valuable food has the ability to remove certain negative effects and instead grant the player positive effects.
Exchanges blindness and darkness for 2 minutes of night vision.
Exchanges weakness for 2 minutes of strength.
Exchanges slowness for 2 minutes of speed.
Exchanges levitation for 50 seconds of slow fall.
Exchanges poison for 2 minutes of regeneration.
Exchanges mining fatigue for 2 minutes of haste.
Exchanges bad omen for 10 minutes of hero of the village.
Removes hunger and instead restores more food.
If you eat a golden banana while having all these negative effects applied, you get the A Cure for Diseases advancement.

You can craft a new potion, called the Recall Potion using an Ender Pearl and a Glass Bottle. When you drink it, you teleport back to the last bed you right clicked on, or if you didn't click on a bed, then to the world spawn point. If you're in another dimension, you will teleport back to the Overworld as well. This potion can also be found in Dungeon chests. Drinking it will grant you the Also Try Terraria! advancement as this item was inspired by Terraria.

There is a new axe that Vindicators can drop upon death with 8.5% chance. (Not affected by Looting). This is the Vindicator Battle Axe. It is important that the player lands the final blow, otherwise the axe will not be dropped. If the player holds Shift while cutting down a tree, the axe will break all the wooden blocks above it, up to a limit of 16 blocks. This consumes more durability. Additionally, if the player kills a zombie with this axe, it will drop a zombie head with a 15% chance; a skeleton drops a skull; a creeper drops a creeper head; a piglin drops a piglin head; the Ender Dragon has a 100% chance to drop its head, and various golems drop a carved pumpkin. The axe can be repaired with iron ingots at an anvil. Chopping down a 16 block tall tree will grant the player the Tree Capitator advancement. If you collect a zombie head, a creeper head, a piglin head and a skeleton skull with the axe, you get the Taxidermy advancement.

If you surround an enchanted golden apple with 8 diamonds, you will get a Diamond Apple. This apple is an upgrade to the enchanted golden apple. It gives absorption, resistance, fire resistance and regeneration, just like an enchanted golden apple, but it also gives night vision, strength, speed and health boost, making this one of the most op items of the mod. Eating this apple will grant the player the An Ice Blue Bird Once Said... advancement.

If the player kills the Warden, it will drop a new sword. This is the Warden Sword. This is the most powerful weapon in the game. It deals more damage than netherite, has more durability, and has a special ability. If the player right-clicks with this sword, it will emit a sonic boom similar to the Warden's, dealing massive damage to any mob in front of it. The sword can be repaired with echo shards at an anvil. Obtaining this blade will grant the player The Strongest Weapon advancement.

Emeralds can be used to craft a set of armor that is somewhere between iron and diamond in strength. However, the special feature of the Emerald Armor appears in villages. If the player is wearing the entire set, all villagers within a certain radius will begin to follow them. Having a full set of emerald armor in their inventory will grant the player the To Me, My Villagers! advancement.

A new weapon, the Sledgehammer, can be crafted from sticks, goat horns, and an iron ingot. If the player hits a mob with this weapon, it will receive a huge knockback. It's not a very useful weapon, but it's a good one to mess around with. It's fun seeing zombies and creepers flying across mountains just from one punch. Hitting a mob with the sledgehammer will grant the player the To Infinity and Beyond advancement. The sledgehammer can be repaired with goat horns at an anvil.

If the player shifts right clicks on an Enchanting Table with a blaze rod, the game will take 3 XP levels from the player, but in return will give them a new weapon. This is the Blazing Blade. If the player hits a mob with this sword, it will catch fire for 3 seconds. This effect stacks with the Fire Aspect enchantment. Additionally, if the player right clicks with this sword in hand, it will summon a fireball that the player can launch in any direction they want. Obtaining this sword will grant the player the Some Like It Hot, I Prefer Blazing advancement. It can be repaired with blaze rods at an anvil.

If you manage to slay the Mossy Zombie boss, you can get the Poison Dagger. It's not much stronger than a stone sword, but it has faster attack speed and it can apply poison to hit entities. It can be repaired with bones at an anvil.

Structures:

A new structure can appear in the Overworld in the form of a floating island: the Weatherium Island. A quartz altar is located on this small island, with a mysterious new blue block in the middle. There are other treasures hidden inside the island, but everyone should discover them for themselves.

Blocks:

The blue block in the middle of the island is none other than the Weatherium Block. It is a type of metal block that comes from the Heavens. It can only be broken with an iron pickaxe or a stronger one. If the player right-clicks on the block with an Iron Ingot, it affects the weather. If the weather is clear, the block will cause rain throughout the world. If it's raining already, it will cause a thunderstorm to appear. If the player right-clicks on it a third time, the weather will clear.

Blazium Block is always generated under the weatherium block. It is an orange metal that comes from the deepest dephts of Hell. It cannot be obtained in Survival Mode, it is impossible to break it or blow it up. If the player starts hitting it, the heat from the block will set them on fire for 10 seconds. The only way to get rid of this block is if the player breaks the weatherium block above it. At this point, the blazium block will shatter and activate a trap. 4 Blazes will appear around the player, which do more damage than a regular blaze, have more health, but also drop better loot. If the player wants to take the weatherium block home to their base, they will have to fight 4 buffed up blazes first. There is a way to break the weatherium block without activating the trap, but I won't tell, if you're smart, you'll figure it out. Activating the trap will give the player the Playing With Fire advancement.

There's a new redstone block called the Block Breaker. When it receives a redstone signal, it will break almost every block directly in front of it, then drop the item on the other side. You can also move this block with pistons. It's useful for farms.

(This recipe also accepts cobblestone or blackstone.)

The block breaker has an upgrade: the Tree Breaker. This block, when given a redstone signal, will break all wooden logs in front of it, up to a height of 16 blocks.

(This recipe only accepts iron axes.)

The Mossy Zombie drops a new block when it is killed by a player. This is the Gaia Stone, some sort of green crystal. But this block is not only for decoration. When you place it below grass or farmland, there's a chance it will randomly apply a bonemeal effect to the plants/saplings above.

Enchantments:

Scorching. This enchantment can be placed on chestplates. If a mob damages the player with this enchant on their chestplate, there is a 35% chance that the mob will catch on fire. The enchantment has 5 levels. Each level grants +3 seconds of burn time.
Level 1 -> 3 second burning time
Level 2 -> 6 second burning time
Level 3 -> 9 second burning time
Level 4 -> 12 second burning time
Level 5 -> 15 second burning time
Level 6 -> 18 second burning time (only available in creative)
And so on. Scorching cannot be combined with the Thorns enchantment.

Treasure Hunter. The treasure hunter enchantment can only be placed on swords. If the player kills a mob that has more than 20 max health with this enchantment, there is a 25% chance that the mob will drop some treasure. This treasure is selected by the game from a loot table. It can be 5 pieces of coal, 5 redstone, 5 copper, 5 lapis, 4 amethyst shards, 1-2 iron, 1 gold, 1 emerald and rarely 1 diamond. This makes diamonds renewable. This is a treasure enchantment, meaning you cannot obtain it with an Enchanting Table.

Mobs:

The mod currently adds one new mob. It's the Mossy Zombie, a new early game boss. It can be summoned by placing a carved pumpkin (or jack o' lantern) on top of a moss block, on top of a mossy cobblestone. It has 300 hp, deals 9 melee damage and has 5 armor points. The mossy zombie is an undead mob so it will chase villagers and wandering traders when no players are around. It also attacks iron golems. It's immune to drowning, potion effects and arrows, so the player must use a sword or an axe to deal damage. The mossy zombie has three attacks. It can emit toxic smoke in a circle around itself. If the player stands in this smoke, they will be continuously poisoned and weakened, and will start to feel nauseous. Its second attack is to summon minions. These are baby zombies with a moss block on their heads. With its third attack, it casts a strange kind of spell and summons harming potions from the sky. When killed by the player it drops a Poison Dagger and some Gaia Stones. Other loots include rotten flesh, iron ingots, golden ingots, emeralds, moss blocks and azalea saplings. Since this is an early game boss, defeating it does not require particularly powerful equipment. If the player has Iron Gear, a Shield and some Golden Apples, the zombie can be easily defeated. Slaying the zombie will grant the player the Overgrown, Overthrown advancement.
