MCA Capitals Integration, Royal Decrees, Prison Improvements & Bug Fixes

Royal Decrees (MCA Capitals)

  • Introducing Royal Decrees: Rulers can now declare players below Noble status wanted within their own capital's village, without creating a traditional criminal charge.
  • Village-specific enforcement: Royal decrees are enforced only within the issuing village. Leaving its boundaries ends decree-only guard confrontations without penalty, while returning restores enforcement. Existing criminal charges remain unaffected.
  • Guard interactions: Village guards can confront wanted players, offering the choice to pay a fine (32 by default) or surrender. Decree-only arrests carry a minimum sentence of 6,000 ticks.
  • Improved prison releases: Paying a decree fine while imprisoned now immediately releases players held solely under that decree, removing their restraints. Other outstanding charges or decrees still prevent release.
  • Rank-based protection: Nobles and higher-ranking figures are protected according to their status in the issuing capital. Titles held elsewhere provide no protection.
  • Decree expiration: Decrees expire after three Minecraft days (including offline time), with a one-day cooldown before another can be issued against the same player in that village. Only one active decree per player per village is permitted.
  • Ruler succession: Decrees persist when rulers change, and the new ruler can withdraw them. They are automatically voided when the target gains Noble status or the capital loses its village association.
  • Independent punishment system: Decrees do not affect Heat, Karma, reputation, relationships, bounties or ordinary Wanted status. Attacking someone under a decree remains a crime unless otherwise justified.
  • Safe optional integration: Decrees remain saved but unenforced if MCA Capitals is unavailable or disabled. Servers without MCA Capitals retain their existing gameplay behavior.

New commands and interactions:

  • /crime decree issue <player> [reason] — Issue a royal decree.
  • /crime decree list — View relevant active decrees.
  • /crime decree pay — Pay a decree fine in your current village.
  • /crime decree void <player> — Administratively remove a decree (permission level 3).
  • /crime status — View decrees alongside existing criminal information.
  • Crime interaction menu: Rulers can issue decrees directly through village guards and supported royal court officers.

All ruler actions are verified through MCA Capitals, without requiring operator permissions. Additional configuration options allow server owners to adjust fines, sentences, duration, cooldowns and optional chronicle entries.

Prison Blueprint Compatibility

  • Full MCA Blueprint support: Prisons built using MCA: Crime's reinforced bars and cell doors can now be recognized as valid MCA prison structures.
  • Mixed building materials: Vanilla iron bars and Crime's reinforced bars can be combined to meet prison requirements.
  • Improved door recognition: Crime's cell doors count as prison doors whether open, closed or locked.
  • Standard prison requirements preserved: A valid prison still requires eight qualifying bars, one qualifying door and one vanilla bed. Crime's bunks do not replace the bed requirement.
  • MCA version compatibility: MCA 7.6 automatically recognizes valid prisons. MCA 7.7.1 may ask whether a qualifying structure is a house or prison; select Prison.
  • Capital integration: Recognized prisons also count toward MCA Capitals' prison requirements.
  • Persistent recognition: Prison classifications remain valid after world reloads and server restarts.
  • Datapack support: New additive block tags enable compatibility without replacing vanilla materials. Datapacks that override these tags may need updating.

Stolen Goods & Inventory Fixes

  • Fixed duplicated stolen items: Recovering stolen goods from thieves or during criminal searches no longer creates duplicate copies in the original owner's recovery storage.
  • Improved item tracking: The system now distinguishes between property already handed to players and property still held by NPCs.
  • Corrected partial-stack recovery: When only part of a stolen stack is recovered, the remaining NPC-held goods can still be reclaimed once.
  • Fixed expired recovery records: The default seven-day record expiration no longer recreates already-recovered items.
  • Safer save migration: Existing stolen-goods records are automatically updated. Records with uncertain ownership or custody remain protected until they can be safely resolved, preventing accidental duplication.

Restraints & Multiplayer Fixes

  • Fixed delayed restraint updates: Restrained players now immediately receive changes to their own restraint and physical state without needing to reconnect.
  • Improved multiplayer synchronization: Restraint application, removal and visual rig updates now correctly synchronize with the affected player and nearby observers.
  • Reduced unnecessary networking: Distant players no longer receive irrelevant restraint updates, while existing packet compatibility is preserved.

Stability, Configuration & Technical Improvements

  • Expanded configuration: New MCA Capitals and Royal Decree settings are available under [capitals] and [capitals.decrees], documented in CONFIG.md.
  • Improved diagnostics: /crime debug capitals and /crime validate now report Capitals integration status and potential issues.
  • Expanded modding API: Added decree queries, change events and local enforcement checks for other mods. See API.md.
  • Network protocol 20: Unchanged from 0.7.8. Client and server should both be updated to 0.7.9.
  • World schema 18: Existing saves migrate automatically to support improved stolen-goods tracking.
  • Important upgrade notice: Back up your world before updating. Downgrading to 0.7.8 leaves Crime data read-only; restoring the pre-upgrade backup is required for a proper rollback. See docs/MIGRATION.md.

Overall: Version 0.7.9 introduces fully integrated royal decrees and MCA-compatible prison construction, fixes stolen-item duplication and floating legal authority outside village boundaries, improves prisoner releases and restraint synchronization, and strengthens save-data reliability.
