LunchWorlds — Version 1.0.0

The first public release of LunchWorlds, a Forge mod designed for the LunchButt modpack. It lets servers add custom items, blocks, models, and sounds, then synchronize them with players who have the mod installed.

Custom Items

  • Create items with custom 2D PNG sprites.
  • Import 3D Blockbench models in Minecraft Java JSON format, rendered in hand, on the ground, and in item frames.
  • Customize names, translations, descriptions, lore, rarity, enchantment glint, stack size, and transparency.
  • Create edible, drinkable, or potion-like items with configurable use time, nutrition, saturation, healing, effects, and container items.
  • Add animated textures and change an item’s appearance while it is being consumed.
  • Configure durability, repair items, and different sprites for durability levels.
  • Add charges, recharging, modes, and counters saved separately on each item stack.
  • Add attribute bonuses and equip custom models in armor slots.
  • Make custom items burn as fuel in furnaces, blast furnaces, and smokers.

Custom Blocks

  • Create blocks with PNG textures and Minecraft Java JSON or GLB models.
  • Configure hardness, resistance, sounds, light emission, transparency, emissive rendering, and replaceability.
  • Customize collision and selection shapes.
  • Automatically generate hitboxes for GLB blocks when no shapes are defined, with manual overrides available.
  • Create blocks from 1 to 16 blocks tall. They appear as one block in the inventory; breaking any section removes the whole structure and drops the item once.
  • Enable gravity for blocks that are one block tall.
  • Configure drops, experience, Fortune, and Silk Touch.
  • Trigger actions when blocks are used, placed, broken, powered by redstone, or affected by neighboring blocks.

3D Models and Textures

  • Import Blockbench models in Minecraft Java JSON format.
  • Import static GLB models with multiple meshes and embedded PNG textures.
  • Synchronize models and textures with connected players when content is reloaded.
  • Use the glb_flip_v option to correct a block GLB texture atlas that is vertically flipped.
  • Preview static OBJ models with the dedicated command.

Recipes and Cooking

  • Shaped and shapeless crafting recipes.
  • Smelting, blasting, smoking, and campfire recipes.
  • Stonecutting, smithing, and brewing recipes.
  • Ingredients can use item IDs, tags, and reusable ingredient groups.
  • Recipes can produce custom or vanilla items, with configurable quantities, cooking times, and experience.

Actions and Effects

  • Configurable actions include healing, feeding, applying effects, and playing sounds.
  • Item triggers include use, start and finish of consumption, hitting, killing, taking damage, breaking blocks, and placing blocks.
  • Conditions can check the dimension, health, target, sneaking, water, time of day, held item, mode, counters, cooldowns, and nearby entities.
  • Configure cooldowns to limit how often actions can trigger.
  • Blocks support actions suited to their events.

Custom Sounds

  • Import OGG/Vorbis sounds from the world’s LunchWorlds folder.
  • Synchronize sounds with players without requiring each sound to be added to their mod folders.
  • Play sounds with a command or from item and block actions.
  • Configure volume, pitch, range, category, attenuation, and random variations.

Commands and Creator Tools

  • /lunchworlds template item <id> and /lunchworlds template block <id> create starter folders without overwriting existing files.
  • /lunchworlds validate checks definitions, assets, and recipes.
  • /lunchworlds reload reloads content and synchronizes it with players.
  • /lunchworlds list lists loaded items, blocks, models, and sounds.
  • /lunchworlds give gives a custom item or block.
  • /lunchworlds playsound tests a custom sound.
  • /lunchworlds spawn previews a static OBJ model.

Compatibility

Minecraft 1.20.1

Minecraft Forge 47.4.10

LunchWorlds must be installed on the server and on every client.

Definitions and assets are stored server-side. Adding supported content and running /lunchworlds reload does not require players to reinstall the mod.

Current Limitations

GLB models are static. Animations, skinning, morph targets, and external textures are not supported.

Gravity is not supported for blocks taller than one block.

Custom items and blocks use shared LunchWorlds carrier IDs; they do not automatically become separate registry IDs recognized by other mods.

Current limits: 100 items, 100 blocks, GLB files up to 16 MB, and PNGs up to 512 × 512 (up to 2048 × 2048 for GLB content, subject to validation limits).
