Version 3.0 is here! The mod was almost completely rewritten from scratch. Much of the code was refactored, and most of the extra systems were moved to standalone mods, with the goal of making it easier to port to future versions of Minecraft.


Challenge Crystal

The Challenge Crystal is a simple item to craft, designed to initiate a difficulty progression challenge. When activated, it starts a special trial for the player. If the player successfully completes the challenge, their game difficulty will automatically advance to the next level.

This mechanic ensures that difficulty changes are earned through gameplay, adding a sense of achievement and progression rather than being just a manual adjustment.

When activated, the Challenge Crystal opens a special window where the player can view their current difficulty level, the next difficulty tier, and detailed information about each stage.

To begin a difficulty change challenge, the player must accumulate a certain amount of XPoints. Once the requirements are met, a button will appear to start the challenge. The player can attempt it as many times as they wish, and each challenge is balanced against monsters from the next difficulty level.

This system ensures that progression feels earned and fair, giving players a clear path to advance while testing their skills.

Difficulty System

The mod introduces a total of 16 difficulty levels, with the first four serving as the core stages of progression. Each level increases the challenge by enhancing monster stats, restricting resources, and unlocking new dimensions.

DifficultyDetails
NormalMonsters are vanilla and receive no bonuses.
The player cannot mine materials blocked by higher difficulty levels.
HardMonsters spawn with +200% to +300% of normal health.
Enemies deal +25% extra damage.
Enemies can spawn with 1–2 positive effects.
The player can mine Iron.
ExpertMonsters spawn with +350% to +550% of normal health.
Enemies deal +35% extra damage.
Enemies can spawn with 1–3 buffs.
The player can mine Diamond.
Access to the Nether dimension is enabled.
NightmareMonsters spawn with +700% to +900% of normal health.
Enemies deal +45% extra damage.
Enemies can spawn with 2–5 powerful effects.
The player can mine Netherite.
Access to the End dimension is enabled.

Configuration

Configuration path:
yourmodpack\config\everydayxp\levelingrank

Here you will find 4 files to configure the entire mod:

difficulty_requirements.json

Configure the requirements to start the challenge: point requirements, entity requirements, and their quantities.

levelingrank_entity.json

Defines in which difficulty an entity will spawn.
Useful for configuring bosses.

levelingrank_restrictions.json

Restrict access to certain items if the player does not meet the difficulty requirements: tools, mining blocks, interactions, etc.

(This file can be easily edited in-game using a special table called Configuration Station. It is recommended to use it instead of manual editing.)
