What's new

KineticArmory 26.9.23

This release is a major KineticCore API migration and UI infrastructure update for KineticArmory.

Compared with 26.9.11, the armor-set gameplay structure remains familiar, but most of the internal GUI, networking, tooltip, command-editor, selector, and event integration code has been migrated to the modern KineticCore API.

Major KineticCore API Migration

KineticArmory has been updated from the older KineticCore API generation to the current 26.9.20+ API generation.

A large portion of the addon now uses dedicated public Kinetic APIs instead of directly depending on older nested widget helpers or Forge implementation details.

This includes:

  • Modern Kinetic text fields.
  • Modern Kinetic auto-complete fields.
  • Kinetic state buttons.
  • Kinetic selectors.
  • Kinetic entity preview rendering.
  • Kinetic command suggestions.
  • Kinetic tooltip APIs.
  • Kinetic networking APIs.
  • Kinetic client event APIs.
  • Updated screen lifecycle/navigation APIs.

Networking Rework

The armor-set networking layer has been migrated away from direct Forge SimpleChannel / FriendlyByteBuf handling.

KineticArmory now uses KineticCore's shared packet infrastructure, including:

  • PacketChannel
  • NetworkBuffer
  • ServerPacketContext

The migrated network layer covers armor configuration synchronization, entity filters, editor requests, armor-set saving/deletion, active-set synchronization, and client input state.

This reduces duplicated networking code and keeps protocol handling consistent with the rest of the Kinetic ecosystem.

Tooltip Integration Rework

Armor-set tooltips have been migrated from direct Forge tooltip events to KineticCore's shared item-tooltip API.

The existing armor-set tooltip information remains available, while the implementation is now handled through the standardized Kinetic tooltip pipeline.

Armor Command Editor Improvements

The armor command editor now uses KineticCore's shared command-suggestion system instead of maintaining its own direct vanilla command suggestion integration.

The editor also uses modern Kinetic:

  • Text fields.
  • State buttons.
  • Keyboard handling.
  • Tick/update handling.

This keeps command editing behavior consistent with other Kinetic-based command editors.

Armor Editor UI Migration

Multiple armor-set editing screens have been migrated to the latest Kinetic GUI components.

Updated areas include:

  • Armor set list.
  • Main armor-set editor.
  • Entity filter editor.
  • Equipment variant editor.
  • Piece bonus editor.
  • Armor tip editor.
  • Attack damage editor.
  • Attack effect editor.
  • Attribute editor.
  • Damage conversion editor.
  • Immunity editors.
  • Potion editors.
  • Condition editors.

Legacy vanilla widget usage has been reduced in favor of shared Kinetic controls.

Entity Filter Editor Improvements

The entity filter editor now uses the modern Kinetic text-field and entity-preview APIs.

This improves consistency with other Kinetic editors and removes more local GUI lifecycle handling.

Screen Lifecycle / Navigation Cleanup

Several editors now use the modern Kinetic screen lifecycle methods instead of directly overriding older Minecraft screen methods.

This improves compatibility with the current Kinetic navigation system and reduces duplicated parent/close handling.

Equipment Slot State Readability

Equipment slot state text has been made easier to distinguish visually:

  • Any Item / Wear Anything is now shown in green.
  • Unwearable / Must Be Empty is now shown in red.

No new translation keys were required; the existing labels were updated with clearer state colors.

Internal Cleanup

The number of top-level KineticArmory classes remains unchanged at 42, but 37 of those classes were modified between 26.9.11 and 26.9.22.

The total compiled class count decreased from 111 to 107, reflecting removal/consolidation of older local helper implementations rather than loss of gameplay functionality.

Updated Requirements

KineticArmory 26.9.23 requires:

  • Minecraft: 1.20.1
  • Forge: 47.4.2 or newer
  • KineticCore: 26.9.20 or newer
  • Curios: 5.10.0 or newer

KubeJS integration remains optional.

Compatibility Notice

Because this release contains a large KineticCore API migration, KineticCore should be updated together with KineticArmory.

Older KineticCore versions may cause missing-method or missing-class errors.
