Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Kestramon client 5.30.0 - more FPS when Pokemon are around, less memory, new settings
- Faster with Pokemon around: when many Pokemon are near you, the game now keeps a much higher frame rate. Pokemon still walk and turn smoothly on every frame; Pokemon further away update their legs, tails and wings a little less often, which you will hardly notice.
- Less memory: the game uses a lot less memory for Pokemon animations than before.
- New in Video Settings, on the Kestramon page:
- Pokemon animations: Full, Smooth, Balanced or Fast. Fast gives the most frames.
- Pokemon draw distance: Pokemon further away than this are not drawn. A Pokemon you ride is always drawn.
- Pokemon shadows: All, Near (only Pokemon within 16 blocks) or Off. Only matters with shaders on (High and Cinematic).
- Fast models with shaders: with shaders on (High and Cinematic), Pokemon and mobs are now drawn the fast way that was only used without shaders before. On our test PC that gave about 20% more frames with 40 to 70 Pokemon around, with the same look. On by default; turn it off only if models look wrong with your shader pack.
- Free unused memory: gives memory the game no longer needs back to your PC sooner.
- New view distances for the video presets (how far you see, and how far the world keeps moving around you): Low 6 chunks, Medium 8, High 10, Cinematic 12. High and Cinematic were 16 before, Low was 4. If you use one of the presets, this update sets the new distance for you; Custom keeps your own.
- The Video Quality screen now shows how much RAM each preset is meant for: Low 2-3 GB, Medium 4 GB or more, High 6 GB or more, Cinematic 8 GB or more.
- Each video preset sets these for you: Low = Fast, 48 blocks, Free unused memory on. Medium = Balanced, 64 blocks, Free unused memory on. High = Balanced, 96 blocks, shadows Near. Cinematic = Smooth, 128 blocks, shadows Near (Pokemon within 16 blocks still cast a shadow). You can change any of them yourself and your choice is kept.
- New: a Vote tab in the Kestramon menu (press H). It lists the vote sites, shows when you can vote on each one again, and its Vote button opens the site (the game asks before opening the link). Each site pays a crate key; voting on any 10 sites in one day also gives a Storm key and 1000 coins.
- Fixed: the raid den crystal beams made the game redraw all creatures one extra time on every frame, even with no raid den near. Now they only draw when a beam is actually there.
- Fixed: a small slowdown in how the shader mod handled the memory for drawing creatures.
