Configurable spell properties and a World Tree sanctuary

All 24 spells now read their core cooldown, mana cost, cast time and range from the server config at config/irons_spellbooks_light_pollution-server.toml. Damage, area, duration and other spell-specific values are configurable where the spell supports them, so a server owner can tune the pack without changing the jar.

World Tree is now a protective sanctuary rather than an attack. It heals nearby players and friendly units, grants configurable absorption, and can protect the sanctuary from magic, projectile and fire damage. It no longer damages or roots nearby enemies.

Seventeen animated text effects

Text can now move, not just change colour. Seventeen effects, ported from Snownee's TextAnimator (Apache 2.0, credited in CREDITS.txt), on top of the ten this pack already had.

Two ways to write one. The short form takes an effect's defaults:

&xsh shaken     &xwa waved      &xra rainbow
&xpu pulsing    &xty typed out  &xne glowing

The long form takes parameters, and several effects at once:

&{shake a=2 f=1.5}text&{/}
&{grad from=5BCEFA to=F5A9B8}text&{/}
&{shake; wave a=0.5}text&{/}

&{/} ends a scope. Both forms work anywhere the ten colour codes already did — item names, lore, tooltips, chat, books, signs, and FTB Quests text.

Full list: shake wave wiggle swing bounce pend turb scroll rainb grad pulse fade shadow glitch neon typewriter, plus spec which is ours rather than upstream's.

Three rendering faults that had been hiding effects

These are worth naming because each one silently disabled whole effects rather than producing an error, and two of them predate this release.

  • A glyph's colour was computed and then discarded on most text. Vanilla's font renderer reads the colour off the Style when the style carries one, and only falls back to the colour argument when it does not. We were passing the computed colour as the argument alone — so on any text with a colour code, every recolouring effect ran and had its result thrown away.
  • Alpha under 4 was forced back to opaque. Font.adjustColor treats a nearly-clear colour as an oversight and sets it fully opaque. The typewriter hides characters it has not revealed by setting alpha to zero, which meant it never hid anything. Transparent glyphs are now skipped outright.
  • The shadow flag meant the wrong thing. Upstream sets it while drawing its own shadow pass, and every colour effect skips that pass — recolouring a shadow defeats the point of a shadow. This port never draws a separate pass; vanilla does, and dims it itself. Passing the caller's flag through made the check read "this text has a shadow", so pulse, rainbow, gradient, neon and spectrum returned immediately on shadowed text, which is nearly all text.

FTB Quests and ModernUI

Both compatibility layers are now present rather than left behind.

  • FTB Quests. Codes work in quest titles, subtitles, descriptions and reward text. Two injections rather than one: the codes become private-use markers on the way in, so FTB's own substitution variables, JSON components and link syntax still see the shape they expect, and the finished component is parsed on the way out.
  • ModernUI. It picks a font collection from Style.font, which is where this mod hides its effect data — so without decoding that lookup, every styled character fell back to the default face.
  • FtbQuestTextApi writes codes into quest data reflectively. With FTB Quests absent every method returns false rather than throwing, so a script can call it unguarded.

The text effects are also a separate mod

The same effects now ship as Luminotype, for players who want them without the spell pack. With both installed Luminotype wins and this copy stands down — otherwise both sets of mixins would parse the same string, stacking styles twice and crashing on startup.
